WARNING: This article contains SPOILERS for Castlevania: Nocturne season 2.
Alucard is back inCastlevania: Nocturneseason 2, and it has been a while since we last saw him in Netflix’sCastlevaniauniverse. Based on the video game series of the same name,Castlevaniawas a surprisinglygreat video game adaptationeven though it was only loosely incorporating elements from the source material. One of the biggest differences between Netflix’s originalCastlevaniaseries and the game it was based on was how much Alucard was involved, with Dracula’s son being a major player after season 1. InCastlevania: Nocturneseason 2, Alucard is once again one of the main characters.
Castlevania: Nocturneseason 2’s castis mostly the same as season 1, except that Alucard now has a much bigger role than just showing up to save the day at the end. While most of the characters we followed inCastlevaniaare long dead during the events ofNocturne, Alucard’s immortality allows him to be the connective tissue bridging the shows. Unsurprisingly,Alucard is incredibly old inCastlevania: Nocturne, at least compared to his human peers.

Alucard Is Approximately 336 Years Old In Castlevania: Nocturne
Castlevania: Nocturne Is Set More Than 300 Years After Castlevania
While Netflix’sCastlevaniadoes not give us many dates, we can make some assumptions based on the game’s lore.Castlevaniaseason 1 was loosely based onCastlevania III, meaning it was most likely set in 1476. With Alucard being in his 20s when he was woken up by Trevor at the end of season 1, we can assume thatthe son of Dracula was born around 1456.Considering thatCastlevania: Nocturneis set in 1792 during the French Revolution, Alucard is approximately 336 years old in the sequel series.
What Happened To Alucard Between Castlevania And Castlevania: Nocturne
Alucard Was Tired Of Seeing Belmonts Getting Killed
Castlevania: Nocturnehas several connections to the previous show but refers to revealing too much about what happened to Alucard between season 4 of the previous series and the new one. That said, at theend ofCastlevania: Nocturneseason 2, Juste Belmont questioned Alucard about where he had been this whole time. As presumably the grandson of Simon Belmont, who was the son of Trevor and Sypha,Juste Belmont grew up hearing stories about “Uncle Alucard” but didn’t interact with him that much.
“There Was Good In Him:” Castlevania Just Made Dracula’s Death Even More Heartbreaking 7 Years Later
Castlevania: Nocturne season 2 referenced the previous show’s best episode and made Dracula’s death at the hands of Alucard even more heartbreaking.
Alucard explained that he wanted to distance himself from what was happening in Europe, including the deaths of several Belmonts. He mentioned having traveled to India and China but did not get into detail about his adventures. We know that prior to the events ofCastlevania: Nocturne, Alucard went to Egypt looking for the mummy of Sekhmet but found an empty coffin. ShouldCastlevania: Nocturneseason 3 happen, it would be interesting to learn more about Alucard’s history with the Belmont family after he became so close to Trevor and Sypha.
