A new Natlan map feature forGenshin Impact5.5 has leaked, and despite the possible excitement it could bring to exploration in the rumored new areas, it could also irritate a portion of the players. The action RPG by HoYoverse is at the very start of Version 5.4, a smaller patch in comparison to Version 5.3. The current update is mostly centered around limited-time events, such as the flagship event set in Inazuma that is offering a free 4-star weapon. Thecontents ofGenshin Impact5.4are more limited, but that may soon change with Version 5.5, according to leaks.
The start of the Version 5.5 beta tests is highlighting several pieces of content that are allegedly being planned for the next update. This includes details about the gameplay kits for Iansan and Varesa, both of which have been confirmed as the new playable characters arriving in the update. The leaks have also mentioned that Mare Jivari, ananticipated Natlan region inGenshin Impact, will not be added in Version 5.5, but that the patch will add another zone entirely, significantly expanding the Nation of Pyro’s explorable area; and a new leak has shown it will have an exclusive feature.

Leaked Genshin Impact 5.5 Map Areas May Have Volcanic Eruptions
The Leaks Say Pyroclasts May Hit The Active Characters
According to the aforementioned leaks, the new Natlan area arriving with Version 5.5 is the Great Volcano of Tollan, which has been seen on the Natlanese horizon since its release in Version 5.0. However, now, players will seemingly be able to visit it. As seen in the information provided by the leaker known as Miruko Real, which was shared in a post tagged as “Reliable” onReddit, the volcano will erupt and the color of the sky will change to orange. Furthermore, the leak says that the volcano’s eruption will cause an earthquake and change the music inGenshin Impact.
Genshin Impact 5.5 New Artifacts Leaks Seem To Show How Skirk Will Work In The New Update
Two new Artifact sets have been leaked for Genshin Impact 5.5 and one of them may have just revealed how Skirk’s gameplay kit will work.
What stands out from this leak are the mentions of a new feature that should affect the area. According to the rumored information, the Great Volcano of Tollan will spit out fireballs, and active characters who are nearby have a chance of getting hit by the debris expelled from the eruption. As seen in Miruko Real’s leak, the range of the eruption is the entire area that is arriving with Version 5.5. This means that being in any part of the overworld of the new map area in Version 5.5 could put players at risk of being hit by tephra.

The rumors about the new map area inGenshin Impact5.5 indicate a large portion of underground chambers, where, presumably, the pyroclasts will not be able to hit players as they will be protected by the surface above them.
Hazardous Map Mechanics Could Enhance Exploration In Genshin Impact
Eruptions Could Give The Game A Larger Sense of Risk
If the leaks about the Great Volcano of Tollan are true, then the rumored map mechanics could enhance exploration. The presence of environmental hazards such as pyroclasts, contained within the new map zone, could make for a more exciting time. Not only will players have to be cautious about all the other elements on the map, such as enemies that they may be forced to battle, but also the downpour of fiery debris. This can elevate the stakes and give the game a sense of risk when exploring, which is almost entirely absent from most other areasinGenshin Impact.
Genshin Impact 5.5 Leaks: Iansan Materials Can Already Be Farmed, But There’s Bad News About Her Talent Books
The list of Iansan’s Ascension and Talent materials in Genshin Impact 5.5 has leaked and players can farm most of the items, but there’s bad news.
The exception to this rule is Dragonspine, a harsh mountainous region in Mondstadt that punishes players with cold. While exploring the area, players have to constantly find sources of heat, be it fire from torches or Scarlet Quartz. Based on the leak, however, the difference between Dragonspine and the Great Volcano of Tollan’s environmental hazards is how punitive each one is. Dragonspine constantly applies Sheer Cold on the active character, forcing players to always be on the lookout for ways to solve the deadlydebuff inGenshin Impact. The volcano’s leaked eruptions will seemingly not do this.

Some Fontaine areas have boiling water, while a portion of Sumeru has the Wenuts, but these are minor environmental hazards.
While players will have to take extra caution from incoming tephra, the erupted debris shouldn’t be as punitive as Dragonspine’s Sheer Cold mechanic. It could force players to move more frequently than they would in safer areas, devoid of environmental hazards, but wouldn’t necessarily force them to keep finding shelter and ways of cleansing a constant debuff buildup. With the volcanic eruptions already seeming a lot less punitive, it feels like HoYoverse has finally found a great way of using environmental hazards without disincentivizing explorationinGenshin Impact5.5’s rumored new Natlan map area.

Genshin Impact 5.5 Leaks: You Can Already Farm Varesa Materials (Except For These Two Items)
A new set of leaks for Genshin Impact 5.5 has emerged and interested players may start pre-farming the majority of Varesa’s rumored materials.
Of course, even if it does seem less punitive, the rumored mechanics may upset a portion of players who prefer to not face such hazards during exploration and, instead, focus on safely going through each map area, facing enemies, and searching for treasures and secrets. The idea of a volcano frequently spitting out pyroclasts and forcing players to move away could be annoying to some. However, this type of effect may not last forever. There is a big chance that the feature will be deactivated with the completion of anew Natlan World Quest inGenshin Impact5.5.

Leaked Eruptions In Genshin Impact 5.5 May Come To A Halt After Quest Completion
The Volcano’s Violent Nature Could Be The Central Problem In The New Missions
There have been a few rumors about a new World Quest series introduced with Version 5.5 and, based on the leaked requirements for its activation, it seems like it should be set in the Great Volcano of Tollan following the adventures of the Traveler and their Saurian companion. If this is the case, players should be automatically introduced to the new zones within the rumored map area and likely work to solve a problem therein– which could very well be the volcano’s erratic behavior.
If this is the case, the quest’s completion could cause thevolcano inGenshin Impact5.5 to go dormant or, at least, have more contained eruptions.

These leaks look extremely reliable but, even so, they should be considered with caution, as they may be incorrect, exaggerated, or subject to change. Nevertheless, the mentions of a new type of environmental hazard like volcanic eruptions seem particularly exciting, as it could make exploration more challenging without constantly punishing players simply by being in an area. If the leaks are true, these volcanic explorations could make the Great Volcano of Tollan one of the best Natlan areas inGenshin Impact, even if some players will be upset with showering fireballs.
