Freaky Friday 2 Has A Golden Opportunity To Repeat This Iconic Musical Moment

Freaky Friday 2 (dubbed Freakier Friday) is bringing back two characters from the original movie, hinting that we will get another musical moment.

Any sequel has the challenging job of recapturing what made the original film special while also pushing the story in a new direction. The image suggests thatFreakier Friday’s storywill be attempting to do just that, offering up plenty of nostalgic elements, such as callbacks and references to the first film, while also acknowledging just how much time has passed. It’s notable in the image, for example, that both Tess and Anna are wearing more adult pajamas this time, when in the first film Anna was very much a rebellious teenager.

The originalFreaky Fridayarguably didn’t need a sequel, especially more than two decades later, andFreakier Fridaywill have its work cut out for it in terms of justifying its own existence. It won’t be enough to just redo the plot of the first film with some new characters and a handful of callbacks to elements from the original.

In addition to Lohan and Curtis,Freakier Friday’s cast includes the return ofcharacters played by Chad Michael Murray, Mark Harmon, and Stephen Tobolowsky.
