The first teaser trailer forFinal Destination: Bloodlineshas been released, and it shows a gruesome death fitting with the franchise, but it’s also a sneaky reference to aFinal Destination 2Easter egg. The trends of reboots and legacy sequels have revived some of the most popular horror franchises, and joining them in 2025 is theFinal Destinationsaga. Over a decade after the release ofFinal Destination 5, the franchise is getting a sixth movie that is already standing out with a twist in its main character’s connection to the visions.
What has been revealed aboutthe plot ofFinal Destination: Bloodlinespoints to the new main character, Stefanie, not being involved in the catastrophic event that triggerseveryFinal Destinationmovie. Instead, Stefanie is haunted by a recurring vision and sets out to save those involved – and as an extra twist, her grandmother had a vision in the 1960s of a collapsing building and saved as many people as she could. Thefirst teaser forFinal Destination: Bloodlinesdoesn’t reveal the plot, but it does have a sneaky reference to what could have been Alex’s (Devon Sawa) death.

Death Eventually Caught Up With Alex
The firstFinal Destination: Bloodlinesteaser is all about a chaotic death sequence, very on-brand with the franchise. The teaser is set in a tattoo and piercing shop, as a tattoo artist (played by Richard Harmon) prepares to close the shop. As he cleans his space, Death’s plan kicks in with a series of events that leads to a chain attaching itself to his septum ring and getting tangled in the turning blades of the ceiling fan, while spilled fluids cause a fire as he hangs over it.The guy ends up falling along with the fan, burning himself.
TheFinal Destinationmovies have been very creative with their deaths, and when it seems like the characters are going to die one way, something else happens and they die in an entirely different way – however, the death in theFinal Destination: Bloodlinestrailer is a nod to what could have been Alex’s death.Alex survives the firstFinal Destinationmovie, but it’s revealed in the sequel that he was killed by a falling brick, though that wasn’t always the plan.

A version of the script ofFinal Destination 2(viaIMSDb) hadClear (Ali Larter) revealing to Kim (A. J. Cook) that Alex was killed by a ceiling fan, and even showed Kim a photo of his body with the blade of a ceiling fan on his head. In the final cut ofFinal Destination 2, however, there’s still a reference to this alternate death for Alex.
As pointed out byComicBook, there’s a shot inFinal Destination 2of Clear’s wall with notes and newspaper clippings that showsa piece of paper where Clear wrote that Alex died of head trauma due to a ceiling fan. Alex ended up having a different death, but the tattoo artist inFinal Destination: Bloodlineswasn’t so lucky.

Final Destination: Bloodlines’ Reference To Alex’s Unused Death Is Good News For The Sequel
Final Destination Seems To Be Going Back To Its Roots
As mentioned above,Death has to get very creative in theFinal Destinationmoviesto claim the lives of its targets and make them look like accidents (though very weird ones). The deaths in the first movie are strange but still somewhat believable in their creative mess, butas the saga continued, the deaths got more and more exaggerated. The point of theFinal Destinationmovies is to have shocking and creative deaths that would be very hard to explain to those unaware of Death’s plans, but even in that, there’s a limit to how bizarre they can be and still work.
10 Most Ridiculous Final Destination Deaths
The Final Destination franchise features plenty of ridiculous kills, but there’s a sense of palpable horror inherent to event the most absurd deaths.
The death at the tattoo shop in theFinal Destination: Bloodlinesteaser trailer is reminiscent of the deaths in the first movie: creative, believable, and horrifying. WhatFinal Destination: Bloodlinesneeds for a successful return is going back to the saga’s roots in terms of bizarre and creative deaths, without going so far that they will provoke laughter at how unbelievable they are instead of shock and unlocking new fears.
Only 2 Final Destination Characters Have Survived Death’s Plan (But There’s A Catch)
Final Destination 2 Has The Saga’s Only Two Survivors
Final Destination’s ending showed that Death’s plan can’t be cheated and Alex and Clear were still in danger, yet there was still some hope that they would be spared.Final Destination 2crushed all hope with the reveal of Alex’s death and Clear’s death happening on screen – however, this movie has the only two known survivors of the saga, though there’s a catch.Kim saves herself and Burke by drowning herself and later being brought back to life, and there’s no mention of their deaths in the movies that followed.
However, a bonus edition of theFinal Destination 3DVD includes a feature called “Choose Your Fate” that shows a newspaper revealing Kim and Burke were killed after being run over by a Camaro that knocked them into a nearby woodchipper. However, as this is a feature, it’s debated if it can be considered canon. It’s to be seen if any characters inFinal Destination: Bloodlineswill successfully cheat Death, but the deaths are already looking very creative.
