At long last, theFate/stay night: Heaven’s Feelmovie trilogy is finally coming toCrunchyroll. The originalFate/stay nightvisual novel is divided into three distinct routes that have all received anime adaptations over the years; theFateandUnlimited Blade Worksroutes received full-length shows in 2006 and 2014, respectively, and the final route,Heaven’s Feel, was adapted into a film trilogy from 2017 to 2020.
On a thematic level, theHeaven’s Feeltrilogy is the definitive end of the originalFate/stay nightstory, and it’s finally coming to streaming. TheFatefranchise just had a livestream in celebration of its 20th anniversary that was filled with premieres and announcements, and chief among them was the announcement thatthe entireFate/stay night: Heaven’s Feeltrilogy will stream on Crunchyroll starting December 19. The film trilogy stands out as some of the best work in theFatefranchise, if not the best, so overall, this is a well-overdue announcement.

Why Fate/Stay Night: Heaven’s Feel Should Be Seen By Every Fate Fan
Why The Heaven’s Feel Trilogy Is So Good
Fate/stay night: Heaven’s Feelcoming to Crunchyroll is incredibly exciting, and there’s plenty of reasons why. For starters, the art and animation for theFate/stay night: Heaven’s Feeltrilogy is some of the greatest to ever feature in modern anime, with the final film, spring song, particularly standing out as one of thebest anime action movies of all time. Ufotable is famous for its animation, and theHeaven’s Feeltrilogy easily stands as their best work, to date.
More than that is the story the trilogy tries to tell.Fate/stay nightis structured so that the developments of each route are meant to feed into the story of the one that follows it, and as such,Fate/stay night: Heaven’s Feelsuccessfully builds off of everything that came before it to tell an emotionally poignant story that brings everyone’s character arcs to their peak, especially Shirou, who finally completes his stellar character development on a meta level. It’s an appropriately grand finale to the original narrative, and anyFatefan would be remiss to ignore it.

Will The Original Fate/Stay Night Anime Ever Come To Crunchyroll?
With theHeaven’s Feeltrilogy finally coming to Crunchyroll, the onlyFate/stay nightadaptation still not on Crunchyroll is the 2006 adaptation of theFateroute by Studio Deen. While it would make sense for Crunchyroll to add it so fans could have the entire series, the 2006 anime is currently licensed by HIDIVE, and HIDIVE doesn’t usually share its licenses with other streaming services. Because of that, the 2006Fate/stay nightanime is unlikely to ever come to Crunchyroll, even though doing so would complete the overall narrative.
Crunchyroll’s loss of the 2006 anime isn’t all that bad, however. While it does have some good points to it the 2006 anime is almost universally maligned for its pacing and poor visuals, so while fans do miss out on a big part of the narrative,Crunchyroll not adding the 2006Fate/stay nightanime to its catalog is fine because of how largely subpar the series is. Just having theFate/stay night: Heaven’s Feeltrilogy is a great get forCrunchyroll, and with its inclusion, there’s never been a better time to be aFatefan.
