Fast X: Part 2gets a confusing new update from Ludacris as he reunites withFast & Furiouscast members for a Super Bowl ad. After the release ofFast Xin 2023, it’s been confirmed that Vin Diesel’s Dominic Toretto and his crew/ family of drivers will return for at least one more action-packed installment, with Louis Leterrier back in the director’s chair. Several social media posts from Diesel have suggested thatFast X: Part 2filmingstarted back in November 2024, but the actual status of the film has remained something of a question mark for months.
Now, Ludacris tellsEWwhat he knows aboutFast X: Part 2’s filming, which is apparently that it hasn’t started yet. The Tej actor reveals that he isn’t in the know about the new movie, and that he’s waiting to hear just like everybody else about its production start date. Read his comment below:

“I’m waiting on updates myself, man. I wish I could give you some info, but I wouldn’t want to give you the incorrect info. All I can say for now is that I’m waiting to get it, and I know we’ve been working very long and hard on it in order for it to be what it needs to be: to be the last installment and bring everything together.”
Ludacris' comments come after the release of a Häagen-Dazs Super Bowl commercial, which sees him reuniting with Diesel andFast & Furiousfranchise costar Michelle Rodriguez. The rapper reveals that he asked Diesel about the new film’s status during filming to no avail and that, as far as he knows,Fast X: Part 2hasn’t even gotten the go-ahead from the studio yet:

“Oh yeah, I was asking, but everybody is tightlipped, you know what I mean? No one has the true answers yet, until the studio greenlights anything.”
What Ludacris' Update Means For Fast X: Part 2
Vin Diesel’s Social Media Posts Have Created Confusion
Diesel never explicitly confirmed thatFast X: Part 2productionis underway, but he’s implied it. Various social media posts from Diesel over the last three months tease a return to “practical” driving and exteriors. “Oh the joy of seeing practical shots back on the streets,” Diesel writes in a caption to a post from November 21. “As we race to hit our 25th anniversary release,” he continues, “I am reminded to always enjoy the journey.“Diesel’s caption accompanies video of a crew and camera assembled behind a muscle car that skids to a stop on a city street.
Diesel has released a handful of other posts seemingly aboutFast X: Part 2, one of which features a muscle car drifting around a track and another that teases the return of a car from the 2001 originalFast & Furiousmovie. There are several explanations here. The first is that none of Diesel’s posts actually show anyFast X: Part 2filming and that Diesel is recycling old behind-the-scenes footage (or footage from a different upcoming project) to accompany aspirational captions about the new movie in order to drum up excitement.
Every Car Dom Has Driven In The Fast & Furious Movies
Vin Diesel’s character, Dom, drove many iconic cars in the Fast & Furious franchise. Here’s everything he got behind the wheel of in The Fast Saga.
A second explanation is that the filming that Diesel been involved with has been forFast X: Part 2but that it’s all preparatory.Diesel, for example, could be participating in camera and vehicle tests, or he could be filming pickup or interstitial shots to get ahead for when the full production actually gets underway. As he said in his caption above, there’s a time crunch to make sure thatFast X: Part 2hits theaters for the first film’s 25th anniversary, which is in 2026.
Diesel has previously been somewhat misleading on social media. In 2019, one of his posts strongly hinted that he would be in one of the futureAvatarsequels, but it was confirmed several years later that he was just visiting the set.

Even thoughFast Xreviewswere mixed and the film was a box office disappointment, love for the franchise still generally remains strong. There’s clearly a lot of excitement regardingFast X: Part 2, especially since it could be Dom’s last outing, but it looks like fans are going to have to wait a little longer for a more concrete update.
