One of the fun things for people, particularly animal lovers, to do inHogwarts Legacyis fill their vivariums with an assortment of magical beasts that are found in the game. Though the world ofHarry Potterincludes a vast number of fantastic creatures and beasts,Hogwarts Legacykeeps the collection a bit more streamlined with a total of 13 that players can tame and befriend. A couple of these can even be used as alternatives to brooms when traveling the countryside around Hogwarts Castle, whether in the air or on the ground.
Beasts and creatures in theHogwarts Legacyuniverse are some of the most magical and majesticparts of the already beautiful and immersive game. Although they do pose someinteresting philosophical debateson the player characters' handling of the animals, ultimately it is a rewarding and entertaining prospect. Having these beasts in the player’s vivarium also provides the means to get much-needed crafting resources without having to purchase them, or selling the resources to get quick money. Some of them are also pretty adorable too, adding to their value from a roleplaying perspective.
13Giant Purple Toads Are Not Cute, Or Even Very Useful
Though a classic in magical fantasy, theGiant Purple Toadis the least impressive of theHogwarts Legacybeasts. Particularly because the Giant Purple Toad is not a pleasant-looking animal, particularly with the large warts that cover their backs, which really doesn’t help endear them to anyone.
Players can harvest Toad Warts from these creatures, which can be used for upgrading gear at the Enchanted Loom. Even the description of its care says that players need to brush the beast in order to get the warts, andone can only imagine how off-putting it would be to brush a slimy toad to get its warts, and then use them to weave into clothing. Players could also just buy a wart for only 400 galleons.
12Fwoopers Are Adorable, But Are Known To Make People Go Mad

Fwoopersare interesting looking birds, having a face similar to owls and featuring vivid colors that would have fit in perfectly in the 1980s. This colorful bird would be fun to experience in real life, althoughit comes with the drawback of losing connection to the real world if one is unfortunate enough to hear it sing, as its song canonically has been known to drive people mad. Somehow, the player’s character inHogwarts Legacyis apparently immune to this, thankfully, so perhaps ancient magic is the key.
Hogwarts Legacy: What Happens If You Steal The Fwooper Feather?
Slightly different character interactions occur in Hogwarts Legacy if players decide to steal the Fwooper Feather in their first Potions class.
Historically, Fwooper feathers were used to create writing quills, although inHogwarts Legacythey can also be used for upgrading gear. The feathers are necessary for defense upgrades at levels two and three, so it is a worthwhile endeavor to collect them, particularly with the main character thinking they have immunity to the singing.

Diricawl Feathers are the resource players can get from brushing and caring for these birds in the vivarium, and arenecessary ingredients in many tier 2 crafting enhancements. Naturally, tier 3 is still better, but the Diricawl Feathers are easier to come by earlier, when players may not have the tier 3 enhancements even unlocked yet, and they can provide some important boosts.
10Puffskeins Might Not Be Good For Much, But They Are Hogwarts Legacy’s Cutest Beasts

Looking quite a bit like the Tribbles ofStar Trek, Puffskeins are easily some of the most adorable magical beasts inHogwarts Legacy. Sadly, the Puffskein Fur, which is harvested through brushing them, is a very common item that is limited in its crafting scope to only enhancing items to tier 1.By the time that players have unlocked the vivarium and can be harvesting the Puffskein Fur, the tier 1 upgrades aren’t very useful anymore, and many players are looking for tier 2.
Looking at it from a roleplaying perspective, naturally, the Puffskein is worth a lot more to many people than just for harvesting its fur.

Fans ofFantastic Beastsand Newt Scamander will already be familiar with the silly andmischievous creature that is the Niffler.Hogwarts Legacytakes place probably around the same time that Newt Scamander was born, in the late 1800s, yet the magical platypus-like beast is still just as fascinating to the main character of this story. Even if someone is not familiar with the Niffler from movies and books,it would be hard not to be charmed by the little blue-furred thieving friend in the game.
Like the other magical beasts that players can tame and find a home for in their vivariums, Nifflers can be brushed and cared for to produce a crafting material. Niffler Fur is an important marterial to farm, as it is needed in both tier 2 and tier 3 offense upgrades.
8The Mooncalf Is Oddly Cute And Important For Crafting

The giant eyes of the Mooncalf and its near constant look of pure adoration that it gives the player’s character makes it truly a precious little friend to tame. Somewhat a cross between a tiny cow and a giraffe,this magical beast is shy in nature but likes to dance in the moonlight. During players interactions with their Hufflepuff friend, Poppy Sweeting, there is a beautiful interaction regarding the Mooncalves. Poppy’s quests in the game include placing a moonstone in a monolith, after which players are treated to the sight of a Mooncalf dance.
10 Things A Hogwarts Legacy Sequel Needs To Include
Hogwarts Legacy is a fantastic game with immersive content, and therefore a sequel will need to have even more quality content to top its legacy.
These little creatures do like to be in groups of other Mooncalves, sofor true roleplaying, players may want to consider having several to make them comfortable. It isn’t a bad idea from a resource perspective either, as Mooncalf Fur is crucial for any defensive upgrades to clothing.
7The Thestral Is Important To Hogwarts Legacy Lore, And Creates A Beautiful Opening Scene

Thestrals play a crucial partin the history and lore of the world whereHogwarts Legacytakes place.These skeletal horses with wings are only visible to a person who has seen death. In the opening story scenes of the game, the main character joins Professor Fig in a magical carriage, which appears to players as though it is flying through the air by itself.
Only after a deadly encounter takes place within that carriage are observant players then able to see that the carriage is in fact being pulled by Thestrals. The subtlety behind this change is easy to miss, but alsoshows that the main character previously had a much calmer life, without murder or death.
Hogwarts Legacy: Every Flying Mount (& Where to Find Them)
There are multiple ways to traverse the open-world of Hogwarts Legacy, including through a Flying Mount, which are found in quests and on the map.
Thestral Hair is important for upgrading high level gear, and is necessary for some of the Legendary (orange) quality gear enhancements. Having the Thestral is, in itself, an impressive feat, particularly for longtime fans of the wizarding world.
Unfortunately, having the Thestral as a flying mount in the game is only available to those people who purchased the Deluxe or Collectors Edition ofHogwarts Legacy.
6Jobberknoll Provides Necessary Feathers For Crafting, And Looks Cool

The Jobberknoll is a large bluebird in appearance, andis entirely silent until it is dying, at which point it lets out a scream that puts together every sound it had heard during its life.

Three of these feathers are required each time the player wants to apply an offense upgrade to any piece of legendary gear, whether at tier 1, 2, or 3.Each bird can provide five feathers when brushing and caring for it,which annoyingly makes the math not come out right for these legendary gear upgrades, but is still a decent number of resource drops.
5The Kneazle Is A Big Fluffy Cat That Is Needed For Tier 3 Crafting

Hogwarts Castle is home to many traditional house cats, which players can lovingly pet anytime they wish to, but they cannot truly be a pet that the player can interact with and consider their own. Though a Kneazle may not appreciate being considered a pet,these magical beasts are the closest a player can get to having a pet cat. This very large feline can detect suspicious and distrustful people, and are extraordinarily intelligent creatures.
In addition to being beautiful and fluffy,Kneazles also drop valuable resources. Kneazle Fur is a required ingredient in many tier 3 enhancements, providing even more reason for them to be placed highly on a list of best magical beasts inHogwarts Legacy.
4Graphorns Are Fantastic Ground Mounts In Hogwarts Legacy

True, many players ofHogwarts Legacywould rather use the magical transportation method of flying brooms than reduce themselves to using a large ground mount. That said, theGraphorn inHogwarts Legacyis easily one of the most underrated beasts. Looking a bit like something from a nightmare at first glance, the Graphorn is truly a stunning creature, andit is a pleasure to experience running around this world from the ground level while riding one.
Petting the Graphorn in the vivarium can lead to a delightful dog-like animation with the Graphorn scratching with his leg where the character is petting.
