As you continue through the story ofDragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake, you need to get three types of Keys to unlock new areas in the world. As your exploration is halted by Red Doors, Blue Doors, and Prison Doors, you’ll need to collect each type of Key. Not only will this help you find new treasures, but you will also be able to progress the story.

The three Keys you can collect are theThief’s Key, Magic Key, and Ultimate Keyas you travel with your party. Each Key can unlock a different type of door that, normally, your group can’t open as you find them inside various locations. TheThief’s Key inDQ3 Remakecan open Red Doors, allowing you to access areas all around the map. Several locations inside Aliahan Castle are locked behind Red Doors, so try to revisit this area once you get the Thief’s Key to grab some great loot. Some Gold and items, such as the Seed of Wisdom, can be found once you open the Red Doors your party finds while exploring.

One of the best things you can get by unlocking a Red Door is the first of many friendly monsters your party can recruit for the Monster Arena. Assembling a team of three recruited monsters to fight through the Arena can lead to many rare rewards.

How To Get The Magic Key

Climb The Pyramid To Unlock Blue Doors

You canfind the Magic Key on the third Basement floor of the Pyramid, a dungeon area with plenty of enemies to fight. Talking to some NPCs in the Asham region will clue you into the Magic Key’s location to the west of the overworld map once again. This time, instead of a secluded island on the ocean, you need to be looking for the large desert that hosts the Pyramid dungeon for your party to challenge.

The Pyramid isnear the desert city of Ibis, which you can find southwest of the desert when you enter it. The dungeon, found directly north of Ibis, has seven layers that will challenge even thebest party combos inDQ3 Remakewho try to traverse it. Tons of traps, puzzles, and dangerous enemies will constantly pressure you as you continue searching for the Magic Key.

To reach the Magic Key the fastest, fall through one of the Pyramid’s floors to end up on its basement levels. Be wary of traps here, especially in narrow hallways leading towards stairs to other floors.

When you reach the Basement, activate a button on the far right of the first floor and another on the far left of the second floor. Pressing these buttons will open up a door on the third Basement floor, allowing your group to challenge a boss guarding two treasure chests. One of these Chests contains the Magic Key, which you can immediately start using to open Blue Doors within the world.

Silver Doors can only be unlocked by using the Ultimate Key, whichcan be found in the Shallow Shrines once you use the Bottomless Pot to raise the area. Finding theUltimate Key inDQ3 Remakerequires your team to acquire the Bottomless Pot, an artifact you have to steal from the nation of Edina. This civilization is to the northwest of your map, on an island similar to where Dreamer’s Tower was for the Thief’s Key.

Spells like Fade from spellcasting classes can make your party invisible to Edina’s guards, allowing you to pursue the Bottomless Pot. Similarly, you can use an item like a Fading Jenny to make your group hidden as well.

You have to solve a complex puzzle in the basement of Edina Castle to find the Bottomless Pot first. This place is between the northeast and northwest continents of the world, so you need to find a way across the ocean between these areas to reach The Shrine.

The Ultimate Key is themain story item you need to reach the final bossof the game’s story - Baramos. Don’t forget to collect orbs needed to wake the Everbird to also take steps toward this eventual goal. Getting to the Shrine of Shallows is easier than traversing the Pyramid, as you don’t have to fight any bosses in pursuit of the Ultimate Key.

The variety of treasures you can get by unlocking every Door in the game will make fighting Baramos much easier. You should take the time to unlock all the Doors inDragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remakewhen you get all the Keys, as this gives you the best items possible for making your party the strongest it can be.
