Few characters inDragon Ball DAIMAare not without their entertainment value, but one new introduction is an especially fun concept brought to life. Warp-sama isa series of giant goldfish-like creatures that help link the realms of the multiverse, including the three Demon Worlds. Not only is Warp-sama an interesting expansion to the worldbuilding ofDragon Ball DAIMA, but their character is thoroughly amusing and imposing in the series.
Dragon Ball DAIMAintroduces the Demon Realm as Goku and his friends try to rescue Dende and reversethe wish that shrunk them at the beginning of the series. In the process, they learn about those who would try to lead the Demon Realm and consolidate their power, namely Gomah, Degesu, and Dr. Arinsu. But to reach even the furthest reaches of the Demon Realm in the Third Demon World, Goku, Shin, and Glorio must pass through Warp-sama’s barrier.

Warp-sama Is the Multiverse Gateway in Dragon Ball DAIMA
But Don’t Call Them Goldfish
First spotted inDragon Ball DAIMAwith a massive representative stationed in the Demon Realm’s First World near Gomah’s palace, where a series of Warp-samas connect as relays across the multiverse. This sends users to a gateway containing the multiverse’s many entry points, including marked entrances to each of the three Demon Worlds, guarded by a smaller Warp-sama. What’s interesting about Warp-sama is that, despite their relatively short screentime inDragon Ball DAIMA, they have uncontested power over these gateways, with even the Demon King at their mercy.
Dragon Ball DAIMA Is Finally Returning Bulma to Her Original Role in The Series, and It’s Glorious
Bulma is one of the most prominent characters in the entire Dragon Ball franchise, with DAIMA returning to her roots.
Earth’s Warp-sama appears inDragon Ball DAIMAepisode #3, with Goku quickly testing their patience. To pass through these gateways,Warp-sama checks for Demon Realm heritage, namely pointed ears, and one’s assigned PIN received after a successful application. Warp-sama is a fastidious new character inDragon Ball DAIMA, and in typical Toriyama fashion, even these recurring characters can be uniquely memorable.

Warp-sama Has Great Power Over the Dragon Ball Multiverse
These Creatures Know Their Roles and Bend to Nobody
While Warp-sama is a fascinating character, each iteration is also highly sensitive, andif they don’t like those attempting passage, travelers might not be allowed through. This results even in moments like inDragon Ball DAIMAepisode #1 whereGomah proudly asserts his power as the Demon King, but Warp-sama completely dismisses it. When Gomah raises his voice to even the smaller Warp-sama, asking who went through to Earth after Dabura and Babidi, Gomah is forced to apologize and ask nicely again.
Unique pin numbers are distributed to different applicants attempting to pass through Warp-sama. Degesu’s is 0493, and Glorio’s is 8821, for example.

This occurs again inDragon Ball DAIMAepisode #3,with Goku repeatedly calling Earth’s Warp-sama a goldfish. Were it not for Glorio’s possession of a unique PIN, and Shin’s quick thinking, briefly transforming Goku’s ears to look more pointy, they’d not get through. But to see such a powerful and respected being, whose references to Universe 7 drawcanonical connections toDragon Ball Super, puff up in frustration over trivial goldfish comments is refreshingly entertaining. It’s the sort of tomfoolery wonderfully expected of a Toriyama-original character and a welcome addition toDragon Ball DAIMA.
