Throughout its 40 years of existence, theDragon Ballfranchise has acquired a vast and memorable cast. While most iconic characters have been introduced in the anime and manga series, other beloved individuals have first appeared in a side project. Beloved cast members like Broly, who used to be a movie-only addition, gained so much popularity that fans pleaded for them to become canon.
Episode 8 of theDragon Ball DAIMAanime might have paved the way for another iconic character to be introduced to the main story of the series: Android 21. Dr. Gero’s creation could soon become a part of the canon, thanks to introducing the remaining Majin Buu cells in the Demon Realm.

Android 21’s Introduction Could Occur Soon
Majin Buu Cells Are Vital For Her Creation
Android 21 is one of the most popular characters in the world-famous video gameDragon Ball FighterZ. Based on Dr. Gero’s wife, Vomi, who died years before the beginning of the game’s story, she was presented as a benevolent scientist looking to continue the research of her creator. Despite her attempts to become a force of good, the Majin Buu cells used to make her body caused her personality to split into two halves, both capable of accessing the powers of the pink villain. Her good half supports the heroes, while her evil side is the game’s main antagonist.
Her unique design, in both human and Majin forms, as well as her intriguing lore, made her an instant hit with fans, who have been asking to see her become a part of the franchise’s canon. The series already hinted at her existence during theDragon Ball Super: Super Heromovie, in which a photo of Vomi was shown. Yet, it is the DAIMA anime that might have introduced the most vital material necessary for 21 to become official; Majin Buu cells.

Dragon Ball Daima Is Making Majin Buu the Anime’s Most Important Villain
Majin Buu has always been a big figure in Dragon Ball, and Dragon Ball Daima has just made him one of the most important villains in the entire anime.
In episode 8 of the anime, it was revealed that Arinsu had been collecting pieces of Babidi’s monster to createa new Majin Buu who would be under her control. Before this, the idea of any remnants of this monster being left on Earth was simply a fun idea used in video games or non-canon material. Still, with DAIMA having opened the door for new Majin to be introduced, the introduction of Android 21 to the main timeline might not be as far-fetched as fans once imagined.

Dr. Hedo Could Be The One To Create 21
He Is As Brilliant As His Grandfather
At the end ofDragon Ball’s latest movie, Dr. Hedo was recruited by Bulma to become a researcher and inventor for Capsule Corp. His work on the amazing Gamma 1 and 2 androids proved that he was just as brilliant, if not more, than his grandfather. He is undoubtedlyone of the smartest characters in the series, making him the ideal candidate to become 21’s creator. Not only does he possess the knowledge to create such an advanced robot, but his desire to do good by creating superheroes would fit the android perfectly.
Unlike his grandfather, who was motivated by a need for vengeance against Goku, Hedo’s projects were designed to help people. This significant shift in goals could explain why Android 21’s true personality was benevolent and friendly, extremely different from Gero’s creations. If Hedo gets his hands on a piece of Majin Buu, likely from the Demon Realm, he could bring this iconic android to life, making her a canon character in theDragon Ball Supercontinuity.

21’s Popularity Might Help Her Become Canon
Other Beloved Characters Have Already Achieved This Feat
When he was first introduced to the franchise in the eighth of a long list of amazingDragon Ballfilms, Broly was a one-time villain who was never supposed to be seen again. Yet, his striking design and imposing strength helped him become a fan favorite in no time. Fans’ desires to see the Legendary Super Saiyan once more led to the creation of two other movies based around his character. In the end, his popularity helped him make the jump from a movie-exclusive character to a canon warrior.
While he sufferedmany changes between his Z and Super versions, Broly is now part ofDragon Ball’s official story. Something similar could happen to Android 21, who has become one of the most popular side characters in the series. While it is unlikely that her character would be adapted into the anime exactly as she is depicted in the game, the possibility of her appearing in the anime is high. Few characters in the side projects have reached her level of popularity, so including her in the official story could be the right move.

Dragon Ball FighterZ’s Story Could Be Super’s Next Arc
A Saga Including Hedo’s Inventions Could Kickstart The Manga Once Again
Since the ending of the Super Hero arc, fans have been wondering when and how theDragon BallSupermanga will return. While the franchise has not stopped releasing outstanding content, such asthe love letter to Akira Toriyama’s work that is DAIMA, the manga series never had a proper ending. Android 21’s introduction could begin a new arc for this beloved franchise, adapting the story of theFighterZvideo game. Seeing as there are no significant threats to Universe 7, besides the still unresolved Black Frieza cliffhanger, having Hedo create a new villain would resolve this issue.
The story of this arc would almost certainly diverge from the one in the video game, with the manga focusing solely on 21 as the main villain, this could bring one of the most beloved video games in the franchise to life.FighterZhas one of the most entertaining stories in the franchise, making it a perfect candidate for an adaptation. Nonetheless, despite the series making it simple for Android 21 to be introduced, the possibility of her remaining a non-canon character remains.
Dragon Ball DAIMAhas forever changed how fans see Toriyama’s world, thanks to its intriguing revelations. This amazing series has now opened the door for 21 to jump into the series canon, an idea that most fans would love to see happen. Nevertheless, her iconic status will likely not change, as fans still adore her even years after her first appearance.
