Dino Crisis 1and2have joined the Good Old Games (GOG) Video Game Preservation project, and fans can now vote on what games they want to see on the platform next thanks to the new Dreamlist feature. GOG is a video game storefront with a strong emphasis on older and classic games. Part of the platform’s mission is to preserve older game titles for current and future generation platforms and, after some time spent convincing Capcom that they’re the right people for the job, the twoDino Crisistitles have joined the list of games preserved by GOG for posterity.
Dino Crisisis a 1999 survival horror game originally developed for the PlayStation, and bothDino Crisisand its sequelare now available on PC for the first time ever. GOG revealed more details in a blog on itswebsite, sharing the history of the titles andthe amount of work that went into porting the twoDino Crisistitles to PC. In addition to making the two beloved classic titles available to purchase on the website (both individually and as a bundle), GOG has launched theDreamlistfeature, which puts the ball in fans' court and allows popular vote to sway decision-making.

As part of the Game Preservation project,Dino Crisis 1and2are fully playable and optimized for Windows 10 and 11, along with a guarantee that the games will also work on future systems. The idea, according to the reveal blog, is to make a game “that is as close as possible to the original one, but also ensuring that it will work on any modern computer that you have.” Besides making the games playable,GOG also worked hard to fix some issues and playtest every version of the game, including every one of the six language builds.

The visuals were upscaled to “almost 4K"for a “crisp and nice image,” the appearance of some textures was improved, andDirectX support gives players more controlover how they play the games, such as window mode, vertical sync, anti-aliasing, and gamma correction. The games also have controller support as well as hotplug support. Although the base games weren’t touched (the goal being the preserve, not improve), the GOG team did fix some issues like filling in missing Spanish subtitles. Now that one of the most highly requested franchises is available on GOG, the platform has asked fans for their input on which other games should receive the same treatment.The Dreamlist is replacing the old Community Wishlist, which is currently in the process of being completely phased out. The new feature will work much the same as the old one and will also preserve the community wishlist’s vote counts and comments, allowing players to browse for and vote on games they’d like to preserve for modern and future PCs.
The Dreamlist brings a clean new design that makes it easy to find games and cast your vote. Each game has its own dedicated page where players can share their experiences with the title and why they want to see it revived and preserved.
