Warning: SPOILERS forGrosse Pointe Garden Societyepisode 4.

As much asGrosse Pointe Garden Societywants viewers to believe that its biggest murder mystery has been solved, it seems highly unlikely based on the evidence. AlthoughGrosse Pointe Garden Society’s Rotten Tomatoes scorehas indicated mixed reviews, its much higher audience score indicates that viewers have embraced the series' unending twists since the beginning. Quiche’s identity reigns above all other mysteries in that regard. As of episode 4, that mystery seems to have been solved.

The series follows four members of a volunteer garden club, each one of which appears to be involved in a murder. Since every single one of them has developed enmity with one character or another, there’s no telling whose enemy the garden club members conspired to collectively kill. WithMelissa Fumero’sGrosse Pointe Garden Societycharacterseemingly out of touch with the rest, it’s been reasonably assumed for some time that she was the main aggressor. However, episode 4 suggests another alternative.

Grosse Pointe Garden Society Episode 4 Suggests That Quiche Is Alice’s Husband Doug

It’s Not Like The Show Has Given Her A Lot Of Reasons Not To Kill Him

Grosse Pointe Garden Societyepisode 4, “Force of Nature,” complicates the show’s timeline quite a bit. While it always seemed like the show was split evenly into two timelines set six months apart, episode 4 contains scenes from another future timeline that takes place during a huge garden party. It’s during this particular timeline that the series wants us to believe we’re seeing Quiche’s murder take place. After Brett gets Alice a job in New York, he and Doug fight, and there’s every reason to think Brett might kill Doug in the process.

Grosse Pointe Garden Society Review: Melissa Fumero Steals The Show, But I Wanted More From NBC’s Soapy Fun Dramedy

NBC’s Grosse Pointe Garden Society feels more familiar than fresh, ultimately lacking a key spark even though it’s an overall entertaining watch.

The biggest piece of evidence is when the scene ends with Brett losing the fight and reaching for a shard of broken glass to hopefully sway the tides.Doug has always been a major player in fan theories about Quiche’s identity, and the suspicion only becomes stronger when a cop informs Brett that Doug has gone missing since the party. However, that seems like a rather clean way of wrapping things up. And, given what the show has already established, there’s no logical reason to assume that the body currently known as Quiche is actually Doug.

Brett Killing Doug Doesn’t Make Any Sense After What We Know About Quiche’s Death

Episode 4’s Doug Tease Negates Information From 2 Episodes Prior

It was already strongly implied by theGrosse Pointe Garden Societytrailer that the series would navigate its fair share of twists and turns, but the concept of Doug being killed by Brett stabbing him with a glass shard is a dead end.Birdie told Joel in episode 2 that the garden society murdered Quiche with several gardening tools, which Birdie was characteristically unable to name. And if she’s willing to turn them all into the police, there’s no reason to lie about the murder weapon. So, it can be assumed she was telling the truth.

More importantly, “Force of Nature” is only episode 4 of a first season that’s already been lit for a 12-episode run. Considering how much this series hinges on twist reveals,it’s implausible that the series would give away its biggest mystery just one-third of the way through the season. With Doug storming out every time things with Alice get difficult, him going missing isn’t that remarkable in the first place. As such, it makes sense that Quiche’s true identity lies elsewhere.

Which Grosse Pointe Garden Society Character Could Really Be Quiche?

The Biggest Fan Theories Have Already Been Debunked

WhenGrosse Pointe Garden Societyfirst premiered, many viewers assumed that Quiche might be either Joel or Connor. Putting aside what this might say about how much the show’s fans appear to hate stepdads, it doesn’t matter sinceboth fan-favorite Quiche suspects are confirmed to be alive and well six months in the future. Joel helps Birdie cover up the murder, and Connor is still trying to take Brett’s kids away from him after the murder has occurred.

AnnaSophia Robb & Aja Naomi King Were Shocked By The Same Grosse Pointe Garden Society Scene: “That’s Dark”

ScreenRant interviews Aja Naomi King and AnnaSophia Robb about Alice’s feud and Catherine and Birdie’s friendship in Grosse Pointe Garden Society.

So, while some watch the show largely to see ifBrett and Alice’s romancewill pay off, the prime mystery ofGrosse Pointe Garden Societyremains alive. The likeliest suspect right now is Bloomfield Hills’ Teddy, who could put Birdie at risk of going to jail if he finds out that she stole his trophy and allowed Catherine to break it. Other contenders are Gary, Patty, or literally any mom from the meeting where Catherine had her breakdown. However, as long as the series still has episodes left, there’s no reason to assume that the Doug explanation is actually true.
