Dexter: Resurrection Now Has No Excuse To Avoid Bringing Back New Blood’s Biggest Missing Original Characters
Now that Jack Alcott is returning as Harrison Morgan in Dexter: Resurrection, the new sequel show has to finally bring back two forgotten characters.
Dexter and Batista should have an interesting dynamic inResurrection. For starters, they are two of the only original series cast members who are still alive and around at the time ofResurrection. Batista shows flaws and weaknesses throughout the flagshipDexterseries, but his moral fiber and integrity are at the forefront of his decision-making and his overall character. He should act as a brilliant foil to Dexter if and when Dexter’s “Dark Passenger” is irrecoverably exposed inResurrection.

Will Batista Finally Be Able To Bring Dexter To The “Right” Kind Of Justice In Resurrection?
Batista Would Have To Sacrifice His Values To Let Dexter Off The Hook
Pitting Batista against Dexter as two opposite swords of justice sounds like the perfect set-upforResurrection. Batista may find himself in a similar situation as his former wife and co-worker at Miami Metro, Maria LaGuerta (Luna Lauren Velez/Christina Milian), after discovering the truth about Dexter in season 7. He may also pay the ultimate price as a result, which would instantly become one of the franchise’s most devastating deaths up there with Rita (Julie Benz) in season 4.
If Batista stays true to his code of lawful justice, then he will likely be going after Dexter to put him behind bars for life. This would offer the dozens of victims' families a sense of closure and would be the right thing to do in the eyes of the law. Batista may understand Dexter’s motivations inDexter: Resurrectionbut would have to sacrifice his values as a homicide detective to let him remain free, setting up one of the best showdowns in theDexterfranchise’s history.
