While many thought Terry Silver had been defeated once and for all, it didn’t take long forCobra Kaiseason 6 to give Thomas Ian Griffith another run on the series. With the release ofCobra Kaiseason 6, part 2, Terry is back for the Sekai Taikai, as it was revealed that he is behind the Iron Dragons, pitting him against both Miyagi-Do Karate and John Kreese’s team in the final season.
Screen Rantrecently interviewed theCobra Kaishowrunners Jon Hurwitz, Hayden Schlossberg, and Josh Heald, with the teamaddressing Terry’s surprise return for season 6, part 2. However, a big aspect of Terry’s comeback for the final season was giving one of the showrunners a chance to play a key character alongside the iconicKarate Kidbaddie. Schlossberg portrays Terry’s attorney as he explained what the experience was like to be featured with one of his favorite characters:
Schlossberg: As we’ve said before, anything is possible in terms of who may show up when it comes to Jon and Josh in future episodes. In regards to me, I’ve always loved the Terry Silver character, not that Jon and Josh haven’t. But I’ve been vocal online about my passion for that character, and I’ve always enjoyed defending the character and encouraging people to view things from his perspective. And it’s funny because you watch Karate Kid 3, and he’s just one of the worst human beings alive. It’s just this corporate raider guy who’s getting involved in destroying this teenage kid’s life. [laughs] There’s just nothing redeeming about him.
And yet, that’s only from one perspective, and we love on this show to delve deep into the past of these characters, so I’ve always been vocal about that with Terry Silver and encouraging people to view things from his perspective. When we decided to have him get arrested at the end of season 5, I started throwing out there the possibility of just being his defense attorney, because I like the idea of getting him off and allowing him to be unleashed in this final season, just as a fun inside joke. But that’s the one type of role I felt confidence [in] that I could bring authenticity to because I love the character so much.
Heald: Hayden became insufferable as a performer; he questioned every line that was written, [going] would his character really say this? It was a lot [when] we met actor Hayden, who really, really dug his feet in.
Schlossberg: It is interesting because I get to see the show from the perspective of the actor, and it was a different way in. I enjoyed the control of being behind the scenes. But luckily, we had a great director and Sherwin Shilati for that episode.

It Was Right To Bring Him Back For The Final Season
While it seemed like Kreese would be the final big bad forCobra Kai, having Terry back adds complications that are fascinating to follow. Terry is one of the very few players who can get under Kreese’s skin,and if there is any time to pit them against each other, it is now, especially after everything that has gone down between them over the last few seasons.Cobra Kaiseason 6isn’t simply about Mr. Miyagi-Do Karate vs. Cobra Kai anymore, as the Sekai Taikai is bringing in other rivals for them to tackle.
It also shouldn’t be too much of a surprise that Terry is back in the picture and how he managed to get out of his legal trouble,given thatCobra Kaihas made it crystal clear how resourceful he is. Presumably,Cobra Kaiseason 6 is possibly the last time some of theKarate Kidactorswill be playing these characters. As they get ready to wrap up the series, it’s only proper to have Terry as one of the crucialCobra Kaivillains again.

With Terry being a villain that many love to hate,it is definitely a fun treat to have him back inCobra Kaiseason 6and be involved in the biggest storyline of the series before it ends for good. Whether Terry is still alive by the time theCobra Kaiseason 6 endinghappens remains to be seen if Kreese has anything to say about it. Given howCobra Kaiseason 6, part 2 ended, time will tell how part 3 wraps everything up when the series returns in 2025.
