Smulders and Segel were co-stars throughout all nine seasons of the popular sitcomHow I Met Your Mother. The introduction of Smulders’Shrinkingcharacter, Sofi, leads to an unexpectedHow I Met Your Motherreunionin the Apple TV+ series. SinceShrinkingseason 3has already been greenlit, there is potential for Smulders to continue playing Sofi as the series continues.

During an interview withThe Hollywood Reporter,Smulders shares that she is open to playing Sofi again inShrinkingseason 3. She clarifies that she does not know where the story is headed, but that she has enjoyed being part of the series. Smulders also commented on the chemistry between Sofi and Jimmy and how their characters are able to so quickly and easily be forthright with each other. Check out Smulders' comments below:
Absolutely. I mean, it depends. I don’t know which direction they’re planning to go for next season. But I loved my time on the show, and I would happily work with Jason and the rest of the cast again. So yeah, I would love to. I have no idea what their plans are, though.

I feel like there is a lot of potential. There is an initial chemistry. I think that’s what they’re both processing at the end. It’s surprising when you meet somebody and all of a sudden, you’re just brutally honest. You’re not doing the thing like, “Yeah, fine. It’s fine. It’s all fine. Life is fine.” There is a connection right away between these two people. But there’s obviously a lot of other elements at play. Sofi has a young kid. She’s obviously been a bit burned, and they’re coming from a different place. They’re both single people, but they have different experiences. So we’ll see. I don’t know. I don’t know if they want to hone that anymore, or mine that relationship in the future. But it would be an interesting coupling to see. I’d love to know how it all works out.

Shrinking Season 2 Soundtrack Guide: Every Song From Every Episode
The soundtrack is a vital part of Apple TV+’s Shrinking season 2 as Jimmy, Paul, Gaby, and the rest of the characters navigate new challenges.
With a cast led by Segel, Harrison Ford, and Jessica Williams, and having guest stars like Brett Goldstein andKelly Bishop inShrinking, the series is not lacking in star power. However, itwould not hurt to add another star like Smulders to the cast. Having both Segel and Smulders regularly sharing scenes together would giveHow I Met Your Motherfans more reason to watchShrinkingif they have not already done so. Seeing them as a couple would take some getting used to, though, as theirHow I Met Your Mothercharacters had a strictly platonic friendship.

Our Take On Cobie Smulders' Comments
Sofi Can Return On One Additional Condition
Smulders' enthusiasm and her understanding of Sofi and Jimmy makes a season 3 return an enticing prospect. For it to work, though,Jimmy needs to be ready for a serious romantic relationship, and he confirms in “Changing Patterns” that he is not ready yet for this type of commitment. Jimmy is still working through his grief, which is now further complicated because of how he just let down his daughter, Alice (Lukita Maxwell). Right now, Jimmy is not focused on finding a new romance, but if he becomes ready inShrinkingseason 3, Sofi and Jimmy could be a wonderful couple.
