Boruto: Two Blue Vortexhas consistently proven to be an amazing addition to theNarutofranchise over the last few months. The series is an intense and exciting adventure that rarely ever gives its readers a chance to rest. Seeing as the Ninja World is in more danger than ever before, with some ofthe most powerful villains in the seriesroaming around, the heroes are in constant need to protect their home.

Yet, with the release of chapter #19, it has become clear that the series is ignoring one of its most iconic, albeit weaker, antagonists. After boldly proclaiming that he would be the one to kill Boruto,Code has seemingly disappeared from the story. This is a true shame, as the manga had teased he would become a major issue for the heroes in the future.

Boruto Should Inform Fans About Code’s Plans

The Series Lost Interest in This Iconic Villain

During the first half of theBorutoseries, Code was seen as one of the biggest and most dangerous criminals in the Ninja World. Raised from childhood to idolize Isshiki and the Otsutsuki, the boy grew up imagining a world where he would becomea member of this powerful alien clan. His ambition, ego, and hatred for Kawaki, whom he blamed for taking the chance to become Isshiki’s vessel from him, turned him into an egotistical and cruel villain. He cared about nothing more than seeing their enemies suffer and acquiring the power he believed belonged to him.

While never the most powerful fighter,he was a force not to be reckoned with, as no regular Shinobi would have a chance of defeating him. Still, once theTwo Blue Vortexseries began, Code went from a respectable villain to a complete disappointment. In almost all his appearances, the cyborg would be defeated, humiliated, and on several occasions hurt beyond repair. The manga series hinted at this no longer being the case in chapter #15, during whichCode implied he would receive a massive power-upto defeat Boruto and the Divine Trees.

Naruto’s Sequel Has One Major Problem It Needs to Overcome If It Wants to Succeed

Boruto has always struggled to live up to Naruto’s legacy, and the latest chapter of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex highlights a big reason as to why.

Despite his ominous promise, the cyborg has yet to appear once again in the series, even during a single panel. The manga seemingly forgot about developing Code’s story, preferring to focus entirely on the mission to save Shinki and Gaara from the Divine Trees. The villain has not been featured at all, not even to give fans a short update on his training or the status of the Ten-Tails under his control. By doing so, the manga has prevented Code from developing into a proper antagonist as promised, damaging his story and relevance.

Code Should Still Be Trying To Hunt Boruto

The Cyborg Was Never Known for Being Patient

One of the traits of Code’s personality that often led him astray was his intolerance. His massive ego, originating from beingone of Kara’s most powerful members, caused him to act before thinking several times in the past. Even though his patience seemingly grew during the time skip, as he did not try to attack Konoha for three years, this is explained as him waiting for Boruto to make a move. Further proof of his ego taking over was his invasion of Jura’s base during chapter #15. Despite knowing how dangerous the Divine Trees were, the villain attempted to attack them by surprise and defeat them.

Code has not grown as a person, being the same reckless and thoughtless fighter he was in the past. Because of this, knowing that he has not tried another attack or trick to try and catch Boruto seems out of character for him. His prolonged absence is not representative of the character fans have known for years. Code may be currently training in secret, hoping to become more powerful than Boruto, but by not showing a single sign of this, it is easy to assume that he is currently not doing anything relevant.

Naruto Just Fixed Boruto’s Big Villain Problem With a Rather Genius Twist

Boruto: Two Blue Vortex is fixing a major issue with its villains with a change of focus in the story thanks to Naruto’s influence.

If the manga series wants fans to take Code seriously, as implied during his powerful speech in chapter #15, there should be constant updates about his progress. Otherwise, having him suddenly return stronger than ever before would not be a satisfying conclusion to his current storyline. The best thing to do would be to show fans, at least for a couple of panels, what the situation with Code is like at the moment and give hints about his next moves.

Code Has a Perfect Opportunity To Return During the Current Arc

Once Boruto Joins the Fight, the Cyborg Could Attack

During chapter #19 of theBoruto: Two Blue Vortexmanga, the titular protagonist could be seen anxiously waiting to join the fight against Matsuri and Ryu. Although Kashin Koji warned him about disrupting their plans, Naruto’s son looked ready to save his friends and his master from being absorbed by the Divine Trees. He might have remained calm and obeyed Koji in the latest chapter, but this does not mean he will continue doing so during the next. Once Boruto joins the fight in chapter #20, Code could make a surprise appearance to attack his archnemesis.

Like the Divine Trees, the cyborg’s main motivation is to destroy Naruto’s son, proving himself worthy of being an Otsutsuki. He has no reason to put his life on the line once again unless Boruto is present. If the hero makes himself known, Code could suddenly join the fight, trying desperately to kill him and stopping Boruto from saving his friends. While there have been no signs of his presence yet, the cyborg is known for hiding Claw Marks on interesting opponents, ready for him to appear at any moment.

Code Deserves Better Development

The Villain Is an Iconic Part of the Sequel

It is no secret that mostBorutofans have consideredCode the series' worst villainfor several years. Despite his best efforts, the cyborg has never been able to make any significant advances toward his goals. Nevertheless, the series keeps painting him as a serious threat that could surprise fans. If the manga truly wants fans to see Code as a dangerous opponent, it should try to give him relevant storylines and showcase his abilities. Only then willBorutofans believe he deserves to be among the biggest villains in the franchise.
