Baldur’s Gate 3has countless characters who appear throughout its three acts, some of them only in the form of stories and descriptions. One such character isYrre the Sparkstruck, a wizard or artificer of some kind, who pops up whenever lightning charges are mentioned. Yrre has become a topic of community discussion, both for the mysteries around their own identity, and their relationship with a certain cleric of Mystra.
That cleric isLenore, whose tower in the Underdark features prominently inBG3’s first act.Much like Yrre, Lenore is never seen, but learned about through item descriptions and texts found throughout her home. Many of those texts link her to Yrre, meaning fans might be able to learn more about Lenore by understanding Yrre’s story. Luckily, folks have put together a rough idea of whom this inventor was through careful attention to detail.

BG3 Offers Hints To Yrre’s Identity
Investigate Their Inventions To Tell Their Tale
Yrre was, first and foremost, an inventor, and many of their creations can be found by players. These include The Speedy Lightfeet, originally possessed by Barcus Wroot in the Blighted Village, andThe Protecty Sparkswall, which is kept in Grymforge. There are 12 items in all that reference Yrre as their inventor, showcasing their innovative nature and obsession with lightning. According to their descriptions, Yrre was a deep gnome who encountered a brutal storm when they first left the Underdark, inspiring a lifelong infatuation with the power of electricity.
How To Get The Spellsparkler In Baldur’s Gate 3
The Spellsparkler is a quarterstaff for magical characters in Baldur’s Gate 3 obtained as a reward from Counsellor Florrick for rescuing her.
A few other facts about Yrre can be gleaned from their creations. They are said to have likened controlling lightning to controlling the

How Are Yrre & Lenore Connected In BG3?
A Stormy Relationship Between Two Great Minds
These items also make it clear that Lenore was quite close to Yrre. She was a fellow Weave researcher, and in addition to being partners in research and design, the two were apparently romantic partners, at least for a while. They madeThe Sparkswallring andThe Blast Pendantnecklace together, before something drove them apart and Yrre returned to the surface.
Lenore also seems to have been an inventor in her own right, creating the Guiding Light ring to help navigate the Underdark.

Letters between Lenore and Yrre can be found throughout the tower in the Underdark, with Lenore saying that she blamed herself for being “too stubborn” and that"despite everything, [she] still loves [them].“It seems likeLenore left her towerfor a time, intending to come back, but never did. Yrre returned shortly after she left and waited for her, but eventually realized she wasn’t coming back. It’s unclear exactly what happened to either of them after that, but their doomed love makes for a compelling story nonetheless.
What Yrre Can Tell Players About Lenore
A Brilliant Mind, Alone In The Dark
SoYrre’s story as an ambitious, restless, and curious inventor feels pretty clear, but what about Lenore? Lenore DeHurst lived in a tower in the Underdark, where she worked researchingSussur Blooms. She was alone, except her dog, Myrna, until she met Yrre. The two got along and lived together for a while, and brought each other up to new heights. At some point, as is clear from the constructs in Lenore’s tower, she built helper robots to assist her studies, naming one of them Bernard.

Scratch is one of many companions that can join your camp in Baldur’s Gate 3, but getting him to join might require finding his collar first.
After a time, Yrre left, and Myrna died. Lenore was alone, save forher constructs, whom she programmed to remind her that she was worthy of love. She tried taming a bulette to replace her fallen canine, but still yearned for connection, burying herself in her work and the sad novels left about her study.
