While Marvel Studios has been pretty good at keeping secrets, one character’s fate seems sealed after theAvengers: Doomsdaycast reveal. TheMarvel Cinematic Universe (MCU)is racing towards the end of the Multiverse Saga, and while some large releases likeThunderbolts* andThe Fantastic Four: First Stepswill be coming out beforeAvengers: Doomsday, the hype train is already rolling for the next major Avengers event. With the anticipation being even higher due to the fact that there hasn’t been an Avengers movie sinceAvengers: Endgamein 2019.

However, with Marvel’s unconventional live stream announcement for theupcoming cast ofAvengers: Doomsday, there appears to have been a glaring omission from the list that appears to seal the fate of one character who many people have already speculated would be doomed in the upcomingThunderbolts*movie. With many other surprise appearances, and several characters who were already expected to play their part in the upcoming film, things don’t look good for this character ahead ofDoomsday.

Avengers: Doomsday’s Cast Includes All Thunderbolts* Stars With 1 Notable Exception

The Thunderbolts* Are Set To Make A Big Splash In Avengers: Doomsday

TheThunderbolts*movie is shrouded in a fair amount of mystery, with even the title featuring an asterisk which raises questions about whether this will actually be the name of the movie once it’s released to the public. However, the trailers have provided some insights into what to expect, and even answered questions about details like who bought the Avengers tower after Tony Stark died. It’s also led fans to speculate about details like who Lewis Pullman’s character actually is, andthe fate of Taskmaster, one of the supposed members of the team.

And while theAvengers: Doomsdaylineup included each and every one of the primary cast forThunderbolts*, including Lewis Pullman, who has a lesser role in the actual team, except for Olga Kurylenko who played the character inBlack Widowand is returning forThunderbolts*, it appears as though the character will not survive the movie. This was already widely speculated, because theTaskmaster character appears to only show up in one prominent scenein the trailers, while the rest of the team show up everywhere else.

Doomsday’s Cast Adds Further Confirmation Taskmaster Will Die In Thunderbolts*

Things Don’t Look Good For Taskmaster After Marvel’s Big Announcement

The thing is, if Taskmaster was a part of theThunderbolts*team, and she survived to make a big impression throughout the movie, then it is highly likely that the actor would appear at several points in the trailer. Especially since when trying to map out the timeline of possible events in the trailer footage, itappears that Taskmaster only seems to be in a very early scene, while all the rest of the developments feature some or all of the other characters, while omitting her.

Of course, she may just be held captive, or Marvel Studios could be attempting to hide and obscure the character for fear of giving away some other big reveal, but itseems likely that something will be happening to Taskmasterthat means they won’t be present for the bulk of the movie. And beyond that, it seems that the character is now unlikely toreturn with the rest of theThunderbolts*team inDoomsday. I mean, even Pullman’s Bob is returning, and they are clearly in opposition to the team during the movie.

Why There’s Actually Still Hope Taskmaster Could Survive And Appear In Doomsday

Marvel Could Be Trying To Misdirect Audiences With The Marketing Around Taskmaster

However, there could still be a small glimmer of hope for Olga Kurylenko to return in the upcoming film and beyond. As mentioned briefly above,Marvel may be trying to obscure some big detailsthat will play an important part in the upcoming movie. Whether that is a new suit for Taskmaster, potentially seeing the character replaced with a male counterpart if they are actually killed, or even if the MCU has bigger plans for her in some other way, then all of these reasons could lead to the studio keeping Taskmaster out of the marketing for strategic purposes.

Which rivalry are you most excited to see in Avengers: Doomsday?

I don’t think it’s a coincidence that Pedro Pascal’s Reed Richards was confirmed for Avengers: Doomsday in the recent cast video just before RDJ’s Doctor Doom. That’s definitely a classic comics rivalry that I’m really excited to see, though I’m also eager for the X-Men to potentially take on the Avengers. Likewise, I do think Thor vs Storm would be really cool, assuming Storm is eventually confirmed for the upcoming crossover as well.

Otherwise, Marvel Studios has also revealed that this is not the end of the cast list forDoomsday, with overt hints in an exchange between official accounts and Robert Downey Jr. on social media. So, Kurylenko may just be appearing in a future announcement, potentially afterThunderboltsis released. Whatever the case, it seems that Marvel is gearing up for a huge event to take place inAvengers: Doomsday, and theThunderboltscast will have a part to play, but whether it’s all or some of the cast returning remains to be seen.
