PlayStation 5 exclusiveAstro Botkeeps racking up awards and is launching free new content for players. The update includes five new levels of Astro Bot’s signature platforming, PlayStation nostalgia, and more new content.

As described on thePlayStation Blog,Astro Botdeveloper Team Asobi’s Studio Director Nicolas Doucet provided a breakdown of the five new levels and what else players can expect. Doucet explains thatthese weekly-released levels wouldn’t just be fun walkthroughs like its Christmas-themed pack, Winter Wonder, but harder platforming levels. Players will have to utilize all their jumping skills to rescue a new special bot in each level. This setup is similar to the base game, which wonThe Game Awards top prize, and the special bots will likely be nods to PlayStation’s past like the other bots based on Sony-exclusive characters such as Kratos and Atreus fromGod of War.

Astro Bot Has Won Another Game Of The Year Award In 2025

The Good News Doesn’t Stop For Team Asobi

After also winning Game of the Year at theNew York Game Awards,Astro Bot won the top prize at the DICE Awards(viaVideo Games Chronicle). This is impressive as the voters of the DICE awards consist of other video game developers. Team Asobi’s hard work has certainly paid off and has been recognized. This has been a runaway success for Sony, as there haven’t been many PS5 exclusives this generation, so far.

This should also show Sony that not all their exclusives need to be prestige titles but can be high-quality fun for all ages. Some have argued thatAstro Bot’ssuccess should be a wake-up call for PlayStation to go back to its roots of 3D platforming games. Importantly, it also shows an appetite for family-friendly games, whereas PlayStation has recently been focusing on games for older audiences.
