While Wanda stole the Darkhold in a desperate attempt to scour the multiverse and take variants of her children as her own, Agatha did quite the opposite to get her hands on the book. The Darkhold has been introduced into the MCU as an ancient book which contains dark magical powers. The spells it contains are incredibly powerful, but they also take a toll on the user physically and mentally. This ispart of the price paid for using the ancient book of spells. However, Agatha’s aspirations and ambition pushed her to make a bargain to get the Darkhold and magnanimously increase her own abilities.

Early in the episode, Teen, played by Joe Locke, is speaking with Jennifer Kale, who reveals a rumor about how Agatha got the Darkhold in the first place. She suggests thatAgatha traded her child for the Darkhold.

The Agatha All Along Vision Could Hint At Something Bigger
Later in the same episode, there is a scene that reinforces this rumor when the witches gather around a potion to cure their poison.Agatha suddenly sees a visionas the room around her dims, and she slowly walks towards a baby’s bassinet. She looks anxious and nervous as she approaches, but when she reaches into the cot and sees the Darkhold where the child should be, she reels back in horror, before the room suddenly brightens, and she returns to stand with the other witches.

This moment may be brief, but the scene bares astriking similarity to the scene at the end ofRosemary’s Baby, the 1968 horror where Rosemary walks over to see their child in a bassinet and reels back in horror. Both scenes dim the room, and both see the protagonist raise a hand backwards to their face as their eyes go wide in horror. The similarities could merely be a style choice, but it could hint at a bigger reveal that is being set up for later in the series. Namely, the idea that Agatha’s child was actually the spawn of the devil, or inMarvel’s case, Mephisto.

If that is the case, it provides additional context to Agatha’s decision to give up her child in exchange for the Darkhold. It’s possible thatthe child was actually a part of the bargainand Mephisto used her to get an heir. Otherwise, it’s possible that Agatha was horrified by the abominable hellspawn she gave birth to, like Rosemary, and chose to willingly give him away. In either case, it appears that there are likely some ties between Agatha and Mephisto that this series can capitalize on.
