The CW’s long-running sports dramaAll Americanis beginning a new era with the release of season 7, but will the show score a season 8 renewal? Debuting all the way back in 2018, the series originally followed an aspiring teen athlete, Spencer (Daniel Ezra), as he transfers from a high school in South L.A. to a school in Beverly Hills to pursue his sports dreams. Highlighting the drama of Spencer’s life both on and off the field,All Americanquickly became one of The CW’s crown jewel programs.
As the network began shedding most of its scripted programming in favor of cheaper-to-produce reality shows,All Americanmanaged to survive the purge while its spinoff,Homecoming, did not. However,All Americanfound its budget slashed, and it underwent a massive overhaul before the debut of season 7. Thoughthe original cast ofAll Americanis still aroundperiodically, the drama has shifted to focus on a new group of teens. With the series essentially resetting itself, the future ofAll Americanis anything but certain. As such, season 8 has not been renewed by The CW yet.

We’ll see. Could we produce something for the CW if we were starting from scratch, yes, absolutely. It’s tough when you have a an established show likeAll Americanbecause there are some costs built into that multi season. But we’re going to put our best efforts towards it. And as for Fox, we are still working there quite avidly and we’re figuring it out. But again, it feels like it’s one of those things where you have to build the show correctly to be able to produce it for a budget. And luckily, that’s something that we have many, many years of experience doing.
According to reports,All Americancosts around $1 million an episode in licensing fees.
