While it is still unclear whereAgents of SHIELDfits into theMarvel Cinematic Universe, fans may not have seen the last of one of the show’s characters. As 2024 has seen Marvel’s Netflix shows be confirmed as canon forthe MCU timeline, theAgents of SHIELDaudience is still holding out hope that the ABC drama will eventually get recognized by Kevin Feige and the powers that be at Marvel Studios. Even though none of the characters have returned for years, viewers may not need to give up hope just yet.
In a new interview withEric Goldman’s Cultured Pop,Chloe Bennet addressed the prospect of returning to the MCU as her iconicAgents of SHIELDcharacter, Daisy Johnson, a.k.a. Quake,after she was heavily rumored to be back for Phase 4 initially. While not knowing if anything is on the table for the time being, Bennet stressed the “power of the fanbase”, and the fresh story opportunities that bringing the character back would create, as she stated the following:
Cultured Pop:So there were all of these false rumors last year about you coming back. But is it cool just to see that obviously there’s a passionate group who still want this to happen so much that a rumor like that can spread in that way?
Chloe Bennet: It really is. Obviously, I’ve always known the power of the fanbase for S.H.I.E.L.D. We’re small but mighty, or whatever it was called on the show. But I honestly have been surprised by the continuous fervor this far out from the end of the show. People really thought I… Clark [Gregg] at one point called me and was like, “Dude, you’re doing this and you didn’t tell me?!” I’m like, “Dude, I’m not! I’m not doing it!” I had to ask my team “Am I in this and I don’t know?" They’re like “You’re not.”
We’re really just not included in the new Marvel - whatever universe they’re in now. Which is, I’ll say it here, a shame for Marvel. I think they’re undermining a fanbase and all these characters that I think have much bigger of an impact than people maybe realize. And I would love to do something again.I don’t think I’m done playing Daisy. That’s not saying I know anything. I’ve never been approached to do anything. It just doesn’t… I just didn’t feel like I’m done.Right now, with Interior Chinatown, I’m working on the thing that I’ve been most proud of and it’s a really really fun project. But I carry Skye, or Daisy, within me. She’s there!
Cultured Pop:Knowing nothing myself, I also agree that one day, it feels like they’re gonna say “Yeah, it’s time we do this.”
Chloe Bennet: I do think they can’t deny it. If people still are re-watching it… And I would love to do it again now, now having had space away from the project. I was 20 to 27 doing the show. I was a child! I’d be interested in playing Daisy as a real adult.
What Chloe Bennet’s Comments Mean For Quake’s MCU Return
While the endless rumors about Bennet reprising the role of herAgents of SHIELDhero in Phase 4 were proven false,they did also show that there was interest in seeing Quake’s story continue in the larger MCU. With so manyAgents of SHIELDcharacters who could return to the MCU, the show could easily be a great resource, especially after all the seasons that the writers spent developing some of these players, including Daisy. Bennet’s latest comments reflect this, since she appears to have thought about what Quake would be like now after all these years.
If Marvel ever ends up looking toAgents of SHIELDas a show that they can work into a story that is going on in the MCU, it’s clear Bennet - and no doubt other actors - would be willing to return. It’s also possible that Marvel Studios may be holding off on makingAgents of SHIELDcanon for the MCU until after The Multiverse Saga is over. SinceAvengers: Secret Warsis rumored to be setting up a soft reboot of the timeline,Phase 7 could be where events and characters ofAgents of SHIELDare finally acknowledged.

Given the big audience that still exists forAgents of SHIELD,it wouldn’t be shocking if Bennet’s prediction about Marvel Studios eventually using the series does happen in the future.Marvel TV executive Brad Winderbaum’sAgents of SHIELDcommentssupport this idea, as they reflect a clear appreciation for the show and its place in Marvel’s history. But for now, fans can continue to relive every season ofAgents of SHIELDthrough Blu-ray/DVD or on Disney+.
