Cobra Kaihas confirmed it won’t go quietly, by including such a dark turn ahead of its final five episodes. TheSekai Taikai Tournamenthas been teased for a while now as the storytelling device to bring the show to its inevitable conclusion. While this could still be true, it’s now looking less and less likely that the storyline will end with such a textbook ending as Miyagi-do lifting the trophy as the camera fades to black. Kwon’s Death In Cobra Kai Season 6 Surely Means The Sekai Taikai Will Be Canceled

Brandon H. Lee’s Cobra Kai character died in an accident of his own design

Although thedeath of Brandon H. Lee’s Kwon Jae-Sung inCobra Kaiseason 6doesn’t exactly come out of nowhere, the brawl at the Sekai Taikai just feels like an even bigger version of the high school riot at theend ofCobra Kaiseason 2. The season 2 fight could realistically have killed off Xolo Maridueña’s Miguel Diaz, but the fakeout implied that such things are pretty much impossible in the world ofCobra Kai. So, the show catches everyone off-guard by having Kwon fall fatally on his own knife, making the future of the Sekai Taikai very uncertain.

Mr. Miyagi’s Final Lesson For Daniel LaRusso Explained

Daniel LaRusso is questioning everything he knew about Mr. Miyagi in Cobra Kai season 6, part 2, and his late sensei has a dark lesson for him.

There was perhaps a small chance that the tournament would be permitted to continue if the brawl had come to an end without any deaths. After all, the entire complex is filled with hormonal teenagers trained in the art of Karate. While an all-out brawl doesn’t show the greatest amount of restraint, it would at least be understandable why such a fight would break out. What’s much more difficult to come back from is the death of a competitor - especially outside the confines of a sanctioned fight. The Sekai Takai will surely not be permitted to continue after Kwon’s passing.

The Sektai Taikai’s Cancelation Would Make It Unclear How Cobra Kai Ends

The Karate Kid spinoff won’t limp to the finish line

Cobra Kaihad the perfect framework in place when the Sekai Taikai was on track, as a victory for Miyagi-do would have been the ultimate underdog story after the dojo’s rousing comeback. If the long-running tournament does come to an abrupt finish after Kwon’s deadly accident, there’s no clear route to the finish line. A sad plane ride home followed by everyone heading off to their respective futures just doesn’t fit the bill for a show that has been loaded with drama since the beginning. As such,Cobra Kai’s last-minute twist has cast a shadow over the show’s plan.

There is a lot of honor and sentiment wrapped up in Karate, so allowing the Kwon’s death to be for nothing may not be an option.

There is, of course, still a small possibility that the Sekai Taikai could continue. There is a lot of honor and sentiment wrapped up in Karate, soallowing the Kwon’s death to be for nothing may not be an option. While it’s unlikely the event would continue to be televised, it’s not beyond the realm of possibility that the tournament is quietly completed behind closed doors. Having said that, it’s not clear who would take Kwon’s spot in the Cobra Kai team if this were to happen. However,Cobra Kaihas already proven that dojo rosters can be pretty malleable.
