Dressed in their scuba-themed Batman and Robin suits, the Dynamic Duo prepares to dive into the chaos that has overtaken Atlantis. Bruce reminds Dick that the attackers are also victims, urging him to avoid causing harm.Robin points out that this shouldn’t be a problem, given that their usual weapons are not very effective in the underwater environment. In response, Bruce tells Dick to check his utility belt as he pulls out an underwater-friendly"Motorized Batarang"to demonstrate. The Dark Knight shows that these new Batarangs work just as effectively underwater as the standard versions do on land.
The Batarang first debuted 86 years ago inDetective Comics#31 (1939) in the story"Batman Versus the Vampire,“so it’s incredibly exciting to see this iconic weapon evolve into something new and fresh. However, these underwater-friendly Batarangs are far from the first innovation the Dark Knight has introduced to his arsenal.Over the years, Batman has developed numerous variations of the Batarang, including electrified, explosive, remote-controlled, and ultra-sonic versions. The Motorized Batarangs are just the latest epic addition to Bruce’s ever-expanding collection of crime-fighting tools.
