Five Nights at Freddy’sis a series built on iconic characters. The indie horror game scene was forever changed with the release of the first game in 2014 featuring Bonnie, Chica, Foxy, and Freddy Fazbear. Over the course of the last ten years, those core characters have gone through endless changes and introduced hundreds of variants, especially in merchandise.

While the original gang has always been the most well-known,more recent additions to the series have become even more beloved. Thecast ofFive Nights at Freddy’s: Security Breach– Glamrock Freddy, Roxanne Wolf, Glamrock Chica, and Montgomery Gator – became instantly iconic upon release due to their sleek character design and engaging personalities. Since then, the crew ofSecurity Breachhas practically taken the mantel of mascot characters from the original ensemble of four.

Security Breach Has The Most Iconic FNAF Characters

Of everyFive Nights at Freddy’sgame,Security Breachhas the best lineup of characters. PastFNAFgames mostly simply redesigned the main four animatronics, either making them shinier, dirtier or simply adding more teeth. Some, likeSister Location, introduced new main humanoid animatronics that unfortunately didn’t achieve the same popularity as Freddy and the original gang.Security Breachsolved this problem by redesigning two of the original four, while also introducing two new animal mascots.

Has Five Nights At Freddy’s Ruined Horror Games?

With the huge success of the Five Nights at Freddy’s franchise, mascot horror continues to dominate, but is it doing more harm than good?

The design of the new animatronics is whereSecurity Breachshines. Its sleek1980s aesthetic hits the player with rock music, big hair, and neon colors. While this new look already makes the new characters distinct, the game also introduces something new to the animatronics: defined personalities. PastFNAFgames tended to not reveal much personality in their animatronics, besides their burning desire to murder security guards and the general evilness of Springtrap and Circus Baby.

This was certainly a strength for those games since the point was to make players afraid of the animatronics trying to kill them in as straightforward a way as possible.Security Breachchanged this strategy with their main characters since the Pizzaplex is already full of other indistinct enemies like Endos,so the main fourFNAFanimatronics could each have more distinct personalities for players to connect with.

Glamrock Freddy & Roxanne Wolf Are Highlights

Personalities For Players To Connect With

Security Breachallowed players to connect more with their characters, despite those characters actively trying to kill the player, by giving them personalities that include fears and ambitions. Roxanne is a vain, but insecure character that lets her overconfidence and self-doubt get in her way.Monty wants nothing more than to be a starand will do anything to achieve that goal, including murdering another band member. Chica likes pizza, which is nothing new, but her absolute fervor for pizza does make her as funny as she is terrifying.

Why FNAF: Into The Pit Game HAS To Be Canon (& Why It Can’t Be)

The New Five Nights at Freddy’s game, Into the Pit, seems like it may connect to the series' wider lore, but some details seem to prove its not canon.

The two best animatronics inSecurity Breachare Glamrock Freddy and Roxanne Wolf, primarily because players are given so much time to spend with each of them throughout the game, and inRuin, the DLC pack for the game.Freddy is an especiallyFNAFgood character since players are at first primed to distrust him. After years of Freddy variants murdering security guards, it makes sense to be distrustful of the newest version of Freddy.

Instead, Glamrock Freddy is earnest and kind throughout the entire game, even if that means going against the animatronics he considers to be his friends. With his “way to go, superstar” phrase,Glamrock Freddy is protective and reassuring, making him a fan-favorite character.

Roxy also becomes a fan-favoriteand a much more endearing character in theRuinDLC after suffering damage and disuse after the events ofSecurity Breach. Her interactions with Cassie as she recounts Cassie’s last birthday party are heartbreaking, which leads to an emotional connection for players that other animatronics lack. All in all, the game does a lot with the characters, and hopefully we haven’t seen the last of the Glamrock cast ofFive Nights at Freddy’s: Security Breach.
