In an interview withScreenRant’s Rachel Foertsch, Minear was asked about whether Christopher was aware that Eddie is planning to leave Los Angeles for Texas. Minear, who co-created the procedural with Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuck, added thataudiences will see Eddie and Christopher in Texas, which means that Eddie will go through with the moveafter all. Read the quote below:

Tim Minear:If Eddie’s going to take the time to put a down payment down on a house near his parents' house, yeah. Christopher knows Eddie’s coming. Christopher’s still living with Eddie’s parents.

Will we see the Christopher and Eddie storyline in Texas onscreen?

What Eddie’s Move To Texas Means For 9-1-1

Buck’s Not Taking It Well

The bulk of9-1-1’s midseason premiere, “Sob Stories,” has Maddie (Jennifer Love Hewitt) dealing with the fallout from a dangerous call, and the episode ends with Maddie getting abducted. Before then, though, the support that Buck showed Eddie in9-1-1season 8, episode 8starts to falter big time.He tries to sabotage Eddie’s attempts at movingby preventing him from subletting his apartment.

Buck does come around though, eventually, and the two friends reconcile. Still, it’s obviously a little uneasy. It’s impressive for the series, which has often teased someone leaving the 118, to actually go through with it. Eddie will actually make it all the way to Texas to be with Christopher, though whether he stays there for long isn’t as clear. There’s reason to think that he won’t, but9-1-1wants to keep the intrigue alive. If Eddie does come back, the brief time he’s spent in Texas will only make his return all the more satisfying.

Our Take On Eddie’s Texas Leap

Maybe Christopher Will Feel Differently About It

Even though the bulk of the storyline is driven by Eddie wanting to be closer to his son, we haven’t actually heard anything about how Chris feels about being away from Buck, who he is very close to. It may be the case that things will be back to normal before9-1-1season 9, helped by the fact thatChristopher could well guide his father towards a realizationthat he might otherwise need some time to contend with. There are a lot of episodes still left in the ABC hit, all the same, with Minear and the writing team trying out a significant change.

9-1-1season 8 airs Thursdays at 8 PM ET on ABC and streams on Hulu.
