I have been waiting for theMarvel Cinematic Universeto bring my favorite Spider-Man story to live-action for quite some time, andKraven the Huntercould lead to that happening. I have enjoyed the Venom movies from Sony’s Spider-Man Universe, though I would not call any of them great films. However,Madame WebandMorbiuswere not even on that level. The films were riddled with issues, going from their story to the lead characters not being interesting enough to poor villains to ADR issues and more.Sony’s Spider-Man Universe moviescould have been better.

Those issues translated to box office disappointment, and soSony’s Spider-Man Universe will end soon, withAaron Taylor-Johnson’sKraven the Hunterbeing its final movie. I won’t lie. Things are also not looking too good for the SSU’s final movie, with box office projections coming in low for its debut. However, I still believe that even if it is not a financial success, Taylor-Johnson’s performance as the Spider-Man villain could be good enough to warrant a multiverse trip over to the MCU. WhileSpider-Man 4’s storyis settled,Kraven the Huntercould lead to my favorite Spider-Man tale coming later.

The Film’s Director And Star Have A Plan In Mind

Speaking withCollider,Kraven the Hunterdirector J.C. Chandor revealed that he and star Aaron Taylor-Johnson want to tell my favorite Spider-Man story in live-action if their SSU movie is a success. According to Chandor, he and Taylor-Johnson facedKraven the Hunteras an epic origin story for the character, but not the endpoint of his journey. He describes it as the “building of a villain.” After taking Kraven on a wild ride in his solo film, Chandor believes thatMarvel Comics' “Kraven’s Last Hunt” would be the perfect ending to his journey. Check out the full quote below:

“As crazy as it seemed, and there were a lot of challenges, there was the opportunity to structure it as a classic origin story, but not a hero’s story, or a classic superhero story. It’s essentially this building of a villain. The final piece in that, for Aaron and for me, was inKraven’s Last Hunt, which, if this thing works and is a success, that’s where we’d have this story end. It’s obviously very tragic and sad. The journey getting there is a wild crazy ride with a lot of fun, but the character we’re trying to create is one who could realistically, if this film is a success, end withLast Hunt.”

Kraven the Hunter Poster

To get there, the director says that he and Taylor-Johnson were trying to create a version of the Spider-Man villain that could realistically fit “Kraven’s Last Hunt.” Of course, Chandor notes thatKraven the Hunterwould have to be successful for that story to be adapted into live-action. To be honest, I don’t seeKraven the Huntermanaging to explode at the box office or even turn a profit, for that matter. However, I think there is a chance toget “Kraven’s Last Hunt” with Taylor-Johnson through the multiversefor a Spider-Man movie if his Kraven performance is well-received.

Marvel Comics’ Kraven’s Last Hunt Explained

The Spider-Man Story Is Quite Dark

There have been many exciting stories for Marvel’s most popular character. While I love many of them, “Kraven’s Last Hunt” left a mark when I read it for the first time, and the emotional impact of that story, allied with its brutal nature, would make for an excellent and dark street-level story for Tom Holland’s Spider-Man in the MCU. Marvel Comics' “Kraven’s Last Hunt,” as its name states, focuses on the villain deciding that he will take down Spider-Man once and for all.Kraven wants to succeed in the only hunt he failed before.

After fighting Spider-Man, Kraven successfully shoots him.He “kills” Spider-Man — who later comes back — and buries him. Later, Kraven the Hunter dons Spider-Man’s costume and goes out to brutally kill criminals. He also captures Vermin, a villain Spider-Man needed Captain America’s help to take down, with only his bare hands. All of this to show he was superior to Spider-Man. After asserting his superiority, the disillusioned and older Kraven has nothing left to do, so he commits suicide with his rifle. A confession is left for the police, explaining what Kraven did to Spider-Man and how he impersonated him.

How Kraven’s Last Hunt Is Perfect For Tom Holland’s Spider-Man

The MCU’s Spider-Man Is On A Darker Path Now

I would love to see an adaptation of “Kraven’s Last Hunt” in the MCU with Tom Holland’s Spider-Man. In the comics, the story takes place after Spidey ditched the symbiote suit, sothe timing would be right for a Spider-Man 5 adaptation of the story, as Venom left a piece of the symbiote in the MCU that could bond with Peter Parker inSpider-Man 4or one of the next two Avengers movies. I think thatSpider-Man: No Way Homeperfectly sets up a more mature next trilogy for Holland’s Spider-Man, which fits “Kraven’s Last Hunt.”

The MCU’s New Spider-Man Can Finally Let Tom Holland’s Peter Parker Grow

Marvel Studios will debut a new version of Spider-Man in 2025, and the hero can finally lead to a whole new chapter for Tom Holland’s Peter Parker.

Peter Parker has been forgotten by the whole world, with his Aunt May dead, which leaves him alone and vulnerable to Kraven the Hunter. IfAaron Taylor-Johnson’s version of the Spider-Man villain came to the MCU, he could find the wall-crawler and decide to make him the object of his hunt. Peter Parker is older, and so I want to see him be part of more mature stories from now on, and “Kraven’s Last Hunt” is the perfect opportunity for that, with a dark and intimate tale between two characters. Hopefully, Aaron Taylor-Johnson will impress inKraven the Hunter.
