As with many games from long-running Japanese franchises,Monster Hunter Wildshas many strange quirks that can be both endearing and make no sense. Some of this helps add charm to the series, flip-flopping from its intricately complex and grounded ecology to having cat people speak in comedically eloquent voices, as is the case with everyone’s favorite Wudwud, Rove. Both the attention to detail in the world and the funny quirks help makeMonster Huntertitles so unique.
Monster Hunter’s uniqueness is largely the reason why no other similar game has managed to capture its success, notGod EaternorDauntless, yet this does come with sacrificing logic at times.Sometimes this logic is sacrificed for the sake of making the game function, as is the case with titles of any genre, butMonster Hunter Wildstends to have a lot of these instances. This is due to the game prioritizing charm over logic at many points, especially when the Palicoes are concerned.

10Monsters Don’t Attack Alma
She’s Having A Blast While The Hunter Is Rolling For Their Lives
Alma is unlike other Handlers in the series. She’s out in the field with her Hunter, ensuring that she’s there to give advice, point out monster parts, research, and sometimes give the Hunter’s Palico a lift on her Seikret. Given her lack of armor and battle experience, being in the field probably isn’t the best place for her,yet monsters seem to avoid her like the plague. It could be argued that she isn’t seen as a threat, but Erik is also a Handler and finds himself at the mercy ofmercy of a Lala Barina.
Erik is the Handler of the Astrum Unity, with Werner as the unit’s smith, and Olivia as the Hunter.

For whatever reason, monsters don’t attack Alma. She might be covered in dung, pepper spray, or her jacket is secretly a Ghillie Mantle. Then again, if a monster is looking at Alma and the Hunter wearing its relative’s body parts as boots, it would probably choose to fight the Hunter. If Alma could be attacked, then she wouldn’t be able to help as much while on hunts, and this seems to be a logical sacrifice to get the Handler to function better in the open-world.
9Plundering Palicoes Can Steal Anything
Seriously, Anything A Monster Has
One of the most useful things a Palico can do during a hunt is plunder, which is unlocked at High Rank after completing the quest Purrfect Plundering. While in a fight, the Palico has the chance to plunder extra loot off a monster, taking a part from them to later be used in crafting. The problem is, the Palico’s plundering makes no sense. While breaking wounds offers smaller parts that make sense based on where the wound was, the Palico seems to use cartoon logic to ignore this entirely.
Palicoes can be made to speak with the usual cat sounds or with whatever language the game’s audio is set to.

A Palico can plunder a monster’s tail, despite it still clearly being attached to said monster. They can plunder a Balahara’s skull as well, and the Balahara still clearly has its brain casewhile it glides through the desert. Palicoes can take anything they want through plundering, so long as it is lootable from the monster they’re hunting, which makes it funny when the Hunter carves the target and finds that they’ve ended up with two skulls from a beast that only has one.
8Gemma Starts Forging With A Sword, Then Ends Up With Anything
Starts With Metal, Ends Up With A Dress
Monster Hunter Wildschanged how smithing works, with each Hunter having a unit and a smith assigned to that unit, rather than a group of smiths servicing an entire legion of Hunters, as was the case inMH World. The Avis Unit has Gemma, a bubbly, excitable smith, who always claims her work is perfection. She’s become a fan favorite for obvious reasons and there’s a lot of attention to detail in her smithing animation, such as her humming theMonster Huntertheme while she works, but the animation makes no sense.
She starts with a metal sword blank every time, heats it at the forge, hammers it, then refines it at a grindstone, but she can end up with anything. This makes sense for the Alloy and Expedition weapon trees, but for everything else, it doesn’t. It’s particularly funny when Gemma works away on a metal sword and ends up with a banana (the weapon from the Palico’s Blango set).

7Hunters Ranks Make No Sense
In Lore, They Do, In Game, They Don’t
TheHunter inMH Wildshas a history and is known for their exploits. They are able to take on monsters far beyond the means of regular hunters without much hassle (at least in the story), yet they start at Low Rank. This makes sense for the gameplay, sinceMonster Hunteralways has the Hunter begin at Low Rank, get to High Rank, then end up trying to survive the ordeals of Master Rank, but in lore, it makes no sense. There is no way the Hunter, and Olivia for that matter, should be taking on Low Rank quests.
Trading In Monster Hunter Wilds Was So Promising, But There’s One Devastating Flaw
Trading is an interesting mechanic in Monster Hunter Wilds, but its implementation feels like it goes against the spirit of its original purpose.
By definition,Low Rank Hunters tend to be the common sort who don’t take on particularly strong monsters, which doesn’t fit the Hunter very well. By the end of High Rank, the Hunter is taking on a Gore Magala, which is an Elder Dragon. Elder Dragons normally require G-Rank (Master Rank) Hunters to deal with them, which the Hunter probably should be, considering all their exploits and how confident they are intaking on the Zoh Shia, which threatened to destroy an ecosystem.

6Hunters Can Store Anything But Two Weapons In Their Pouch
Good Old Game Logic That Doesn’t Really Make Sense
Hunters require their Seikret to store and swap between their two weapons, anew feature inMH Wilds. This makes sense, given how large many of these weapons can be, yet storing everything else on their person doesn’t seem to be an issue for the Hunter. Thanks to their super-human strength, carrying loads of potions, antidotes, and other liquids isn’t too far-fetched, but carrying two massive barrels is.
These barrel bombs are the size of the Hunter, get pulled out of nowhere, and the Hunter can carry up to four on their person if they have the large and mega varieties. Despite being able to carry these, which makes no sense on its own,the Hunter can’t carry two weapons without their Seikret. Still, making room for these barrel bombs is always worth it, since they can be rolled and thrown at monsters now.

5Where Do Palicoes Store Their Stuff?
Despite Their Small Size, They Can Carry A Lot
Palicoes have to do a lot to keep their Hunter alive, and have many tools to do the job. They can pull out Vigorwasps, set up Flashfly Traps, and clear status effects, but where do they get the room for all this stuff? Palicoes aren’t seen with massive backpacks to carry all their things and can pull out their tools from thin air whenever they’re needed (or more likely when they aren’t needed). This is noticeable when they pull out their cart to run around and shoot at the monster like a mobile ballista.
Palicoes inMH Wildscan do practically everything thatMH World’s could, except all at once, after completing their side quests at High Rank.

As cool as having a mobile ballista is, where do the Palicoes store it? These carts are as big as the Palicoes themselves and if they had one with them in toe constantly, it would explain where they put the rest of their traps, but it isn’t.It appears out of thin air and is a fun sight if a Hunter has time to admire their Palico’s workwhile dodging attack after attack. While the monsters act in realistic ways, it seems that Palicoes function with cartoon logic.
4Carving Monsters Give Hunters So Little
Hunters Have A Cull A Species Just To Make An Outfit
Monsters range in sizes but are at least the size of a car. There is a lot to take from a single monster because of their size, from their bones, to their skin, fur, and scales, yetHunters don’t seem to get a lot out of carving a monster’s corpse. They may need to kill a monster several times to make a pair of boots, which kind of makes sense if what they’re missing is a gem or a plate, but getting a couple of scales out of somethingthe size of the Rathalosbreaks logic.
This is something that works perfectly from a gameplay perspective, since the entire point of theMonster Hunterseries is the grind, but logically speaking, a Hunter shouldn’t have to threaten the extinction of a race just to make a funny hat. What is made out of the parts doesn’t make much sense either. A Blangonga Fang somehow makes a giant banana that cuts things. Still, it’s this illogical charm that makesMonster Hunterfunction so well.

3Where Are The Baby Monsters?
They Clearly Exist But Don’t Appear
There are no baby monsters. It can be inferred that the monsters hunted range in age, with the Tempered Monsters likely being older thanks to their battle experience, and while Guardians cannot reproduce for the most part, this doesn’t apply to the regular monsters. In the Scarlet Forest, players can take eggs from a Rathian/ Rathalos' nest, and the parents will chase them, but Hunters never get to see these eggs hatch, nor see baby Rathalos flying around.
Monster Hunter Wilds: 10 Best Mods & Cheats To Transform Your Gameplay
Monster Hunter Wilds has a ton of mods that affect the look of weapons and items, offer ways to cheat, change the aesthetic of the game.
There are baby Seikrets, who are adorable, but they don’t quite qualify as proper monsters since regular Seikrets can’t be hunted. Guardian versions can, but these allegedly can’t reproduce (even thoughthe Arkveld laysan egg at the end of the story). The different sizes of monsters imply that there is an age range, and the Alpha Doshaguma is probably the oldest in its pack, but it would have been great for marketing to see baby monsters running around. Still, orphaning these monsters might have been too heart-breaking a task.

And Seem Immune To Many Damage Sources
In the games, Hunters are practically immortal, only needing to be taken away from the combat zone after being knocked out. They are also immune to many damage sources, like being blown up by their own barrels, fall damage, strikes from other Hunters, and pop-up camps falling on them, which doesn’t make a lot of sense when a love tap from a monster can send them flying. This is largely due to gaming logic, but it should be noted that Hunters can and have been killed inMonster Hunterlore.
Being knocked out inMonster Hunteris known as being’carted', which is ironic since there isn’t a cart involved anymore to restore the player.

No one really dies in aMonster Huntergame’s story, but in the early lore,it is said that the Fatalis used to hunt the Hunters. It would melt their corpses into its flesh, integrating their armor into its hide to make it even more impenetrable. Fatalis is seen as the enemy of humanity for this reason, and while its backstory is one of the most heavy metal things in the lore, it also shows that Hunters can die on the job, even if it isn’t seen.
1Food Cooks Way Faster Than It Really Would
There’s No Way That Yolk Is Still Runny If That Fish Is Cooked
Food is always a highlight inMonster Hunter, withWilds' looking so good that it raised sales of cheese naans in Japan significantly, but the cooking speeds don’t make a lot of sense. InMH World, the cooking is compilation, but inWilds, the consistency at which things are cooked doesn’t adhere to logic. An egg can be thrown in with steaks of meat, both can cook for the same amount of time, and the meat will be cooked through while the egg yolk is still runny.
10 Best Armors In Monster Hunter Wilds For Elite Hunters
Getting good armor in Monster Hunter Wilds takes quite a bit of work, so here are the best 10 to work towards first.
This defies realistic cooking times, and while it is worth it to see the yolk run off the knife (seriously, it’s a thing of beauty just like the cheese pulls), it doesn’t make any sense. Still, the food looks too good for anyone to care that it doesn’t get cooked realistically, especially at the pop-up BBQ. Most games don’t haveMonster Hunter Wilds' attention to detail, specifically with their food, so even if cooking doesn’t make a lot of sense, it is always worth the spectacle.
