Every agent or detective employs unique methods, and Illeana’s immersive and consistent approach to trying to get into the mind of the Montreal serial killer creates an essential profile with characteristics. Murder witness James Costa (Ethan Hawke) disrupts Illeana’s focus with continuous comfort, which is especially valuable in a hostile police station. Dormer’s firm disagreement about Eckhart cutting a deal with the Internal Affairs investigators creates questions about the credibility of his life’s work. Dormer tampers with evidence, lies to Eckhart’s family, and initially forms an agreement with Finch, who thinks his killing is an accident as well. The academy’s summon creates an opportunity for Landor’s revenge quest for his daughter, Mattie (Hadley Robinson). In hopes of avenging Mattie, a victim of rape by three cadets, Landor sets out to find those three men. Landor’s painful trauma creates an unsympathetic and often unemotional character in him as he hopes the last man he’s unable to kill lives in fear for the rest of his days.

Like a villain, the Countess has a memorable sidekick, as others refer to her.
