Fall was always a memorable time in Charles Schulz' iconicPeanutscomic strip – whether his beloved characters, such as Charlie Brown and Snoopy, were enthusiastically jumping into piles, or simply enjoying the new cool weather of the season,Peanutsembraced the many wonderful aspects of autumn, albeit in its own characteristicPeanutsway.
Peanuts’comics celebrated autumn were often dominated by Halloween and tales of the Great Pumpkin – yet, the comics that celebrate the season of autumn in its own right deserve their moment in the sun as well, with many rib-tickling comic strips which set themselves apart from the more “spooky season”-focused installments.

While autumn may not be everyone’s favorite season, these fall-themedPeanutscomic strips stand a good chance of making even the most autumn-averse readers fall in love with the seasonthrough the eyes of Charles Schulz' legendary Peanuts Gang.
10"What Happened To All The Green Ones?"
First Published: July 30, 2025
The changing colors of leaves in autumn is, of course, the season’s most recognizable feature. It is the time of year when the green leaves turn to the warm colors of red, orange, and yellow, as well as the neutral color of brown.
In thisPeanutscartoon,Linus begins to catch on to the seasonal change of the leaves, getting frustrated that he sees no green ones, only the Fall colors. An older comic strip ofPeanuts, Linus was younger, therefore, not as experienced in the world as he would appear in later comics. As a result, he is a lot more inquisitive about the world, a trait he would retain even after he gained more life experience.

Snoopy is a unique pup, with an iconic happy dance that has become synonymous with him. In this panel, hegets his own special effects for his performance, courtesy of the fall leaves that swirl around him as he dances. While Snoopy is certainly a fan of autumn, he tends to like most of the seasons, enjoying the sun and surfin the summer, and having fun ashis Easter Beagle alter egoin the spring.
Admittedly, winter is not as fun for the pup, with his deathly fear of icicles hanging over his doghouse putting a damper on the frosty season. That said, fall does not seem to pose that problem for the typically happy-go-lucky Snoopy, with just one of the fun aspects of the time of year being Snoopy’s happy dance among the leaves.

Football is commonly considered a fall sport, with the season beginning in autumn and finishing in winter. As the athlete of thePeanutsgang, and an all-around lover of sports, Peppermint Patty recognizes this fact, and ramps up her footballplaying in the autumn months. As shown in this strip, Peppermint Patty gets a little too into the game sometimes, barking orders at Marcie, who remains perpetually clueless about athletics and does not like the sport.
Peanuts' Creator Charles Schulz Had A Shockingly Competitive View Of Comics
Charles Schulz’s Peanuts delivered innocuous humor from an eternal childhood – but behind the scenes, he was relentlessly driven to be the best.
In contrast, when Marcie discovers that throwing a football at Peppermint Patty’s head bounces right back to her, she changes her tune and finds that she actually might like football; the way she plays, at least. Peppermint Patty is not too fond of Marcie’s approach to the game, but anyone getting bonked in the head with a football like she is here would surely feel the same way.

For example, when Snoopy tries to steal Linus’s beloved security blanket. Although, Linus can dish it right back when Snoopy decides to annoy him so he can handle himself in these tit-for-tats with Snoopy.
This comic strip markedPeanuts'40th anniversary.

6"If They Fell From Rocks, We’d All Be In Trouble"

Sally’s school reports always tend to be interesting, in spite of – or, honestly, because of – her frequent inaccuracies. Seeing the world in a way that only a child can, whatSally lacks in stone cold factsis made up for her in a wholly childlike perspective. When she recites her report on autumn, she makes a joke about what a terrible alternative it would be if leaves fell from rocks, rather than trees.
Sally seems to be the only one who finds her joke during her report funny, with her teacher definitely not amused. While Sally could’ve stuck to delivering an intelligent report on autumn, she prefers to go the humorous route, wanting to make herself and her classmates laugh. One can’t fault her for not wanting to take things so seriously, but it likely goes without saying that she won’t be receiving the best grade on her autumn report.

Many ofPeanuts’classic storylinesshowcase Linus’s eccentric nature on full display, but this fall cartoon makes his strange behavior hilariously apparent. When he finds Linus talking to a fallen, Charlie Brown rushes to tell Lucy, who is seemingly shocked at what she hears.
1 Charles Schulz Quote Explains Why Fans Still Root for Charlie Brown - Even After 74 Years
Charlie Brown fans know the ball is going to be pulled away before he can kick it…but for nearly 80 years, that hasn’t stopped them from loving him.
In subsequent strips, which extend this plot, Linus explains that he was speaking to the leaf because leaves do not have anyone else, and they need guidance in their journey from the tree to the great wide world. The fact that Linus tells the fallen leaf in this comic that it will “never be happy here” is a surprisingly touching insight into what Linus thinks of the world, but nevertheless, it’s admirable that the little guy’s heart is in the right place, even if it is a super weird thing to do.

4"Without Wind…Clouds Would Not Move…Flags Would Not Fly…Ears Would Not Flap"
First Published: June 11, 2025
Windy days are a big part of autumn, which many tend to love, but Charlie Brown’s friend in this comic strip seems to hate them more than most. Putting his defense lawyer hat on, as well as his environmentalist pants,Charlie Brown drops an informative lectureabout the importance of wind. Further, Snoopy adds an importantbenefit of the wind that Charlie Brown leaves out: without wind, dogs' ears would not flap.
How could life go on if dogs' ears wouldn’t flap? As helpful as Snoopy tries to be, he may not be the most persuasive with his point, but other dogs would surely agree with the beagle. While Snoopy’s benefits of the wind may not be as scientifically based or informed as Charlie Brown’s speech, one cannot argue that Snoopy’s ears flapping in the wind remains pretty adorable.

Snoopy’s “Tennis Pro” Alter Ego From Peanuts, Explained (Did He Make It To Wimbledon?)
Snoopy is arguably Peanuts' most iconic character, and that has a lot to do with his hilarious alter egos, including his World Famous Tennis Player.
While Woodstock may not have known to stay on the move during autumn, he definitely won’t forget it after receiving the lesson from nature itself. Given how small Woodstock is, as well, he especially needs to bob and weave during those autumn months when the leaves are falling all around. unless he wants to be completely overtaken, like he has been in thisPeanutscomic strip.

2"…And Sit In Front Of A Warm TV"
First Published: July 04, 2025
Among thePeanutsGang, Linus is the one who values peace the most, which usually leads to him trying to be a mediator to those around him. At times, he even exhibits maturity beyond his years. Likewise, he enjoys the simple things in life. Case in point, he loves the fall staple of taking a walk in nice autumn weather, then having a hot chocolate at home, though a more unorthodox part of his Fall routine involves sitting in front of a warm television.
For fans of the classic Cartoon Network seriesEd, Edd, and Eddy, the character of Johnny carries around a plank of wood called appropriately enough Plank. However, the character was originally supposed to carry around a security blanket, but it was deemed to be too similar to thePeanutscharacter, Linus, so the idea was nixed.

Knowing what he likes, Linus can count on his autumn routine to bring a smile to his face. While many would consider pumpkin carving or bobbing for apples beloved Fall activities, Linus’s more subdued ventures are just as fun and autumn-centered for him as any of those other actions.

Jumping in a pile of leaves is a beloved childhood pastime, synonymous with autumn. However, the fun childhood ritual is not exclusive to kids only, with dogs – or at least beagles, or at the very least, Snoopy – getting in on the fun in thisPeanutscomic. When Charlie Brown takes advantage of the pile of autumn leaves, by taking a running jump into it,Snoopy decides to one-up him, launching head-first into a diving jump, complete with flips and twists, before landing in the pile as well.
Snoopy sticks the landing, acting like he is an Olympic level gymnast, and bewildered by his dog’s leaf diving skills, Charlie Brown sits by stunned, either completelyshocked by Snoopy’s actionsor totally impressed. Regardless, Snoopy makes the most of the joys that autumn can bring, in this pitch-perfectPeanutsfall comic.
