Recipes inThe Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdomare good for boosting many things, including defense, stamina, and most importantly, health. Having a few recipes on hand that restore 10+ hearts can mean the difference between life and death for Link in critical moments, so it’s a good idea to keep a supply of the best recipes in your inventory at all times.
Unfortunately, most recipes are only going to be great for one thing or another, not both. An excellent stamina recipe is not going to be perfect for healing and vice versa because of the different ingredients used to make it. Furthermore, while some recipes simply restore hearts, others can provide recovery and bonus hearts, which go beyond Link’s maximum health.

10Hearty Salt-Grilled Meat
Full Recovery + 12 Bonus Hearts
While you’d think that meat would be one of the best ingredients inTears of the Kingdom, it surprisingly isn’t nearly as good as some of the vegetables and fish that can be found in the game. That being said, it can still be combined with those ingredients to make a dish well worth your effort.
In this case, combining Raw Meat with Rock Salt and someHearty Truffles can make you a dish that not only fully restores your energy, but provides you with bonus hearts as well. While bonus hearts are only temporary additions to your health that disappear after you’ve been damaged enough, they can be a great way to survive earlier on in the game in difficult areas.

Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom - 10 Best Recipes For Stamina
Stamina is one of Link’s two main stats in Zelda and while he can increase its max at Goddess Statues, he needs recipes to help boost him on the go.
However, this shouldn’t be an excuse to ignore upgrading your maximum base health, asthe dish only becomes more beneficial the higher the base is. For example, while 10 bonus hearts on a base of three would give you 13 total hearts, 10 bonus hearts on top of 15 would give you 25 total hearts. So make sure you work on visiting the Goddess Statue in addition to cooking.

9Hearty Elixir
Full Recovery + 16 Bonus Hearts
While it’s not as immediately appealing,Elixirs can be just as powerful as recipes, even though they’re made with monster parts. In some way, they may even be more beneficial to you, since monster parts and Lizards are often easier to come by than some of the Big Hearty ingredients needed for great recipes.
Odds are that you’re accumulating monster parts anyway when killing enemies across Hyrule, so you might as well use them for something beneficial. Unfortunately, similarly to cooking ingredients,Lizards also come in Hearty variants that are rare and better for recipes like this.

10 Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Recipes That Really Just Waste Ingredients
Players can cook up hundreds of delicious dishes in Tears of the Kingdom. Some are incredibly useful, while others are just plain wasteful.
Hearty Lizards can typically be found in the Gerudo Highlands as shown inHyruleTown’s video above, and Monster Parts can be pulled offany enemy inZelda: Tears of the Kingdom. However, be careful and ensure that you have some backup health restoration options on handas you don’t want to burn through your other health-restoring dishes by simply trying to acquire an ingredient to make another.

8Hearty Tomato Mushroom Stew
Hearty Tomato Mushroom Stew is about as simple as it sounds, since the required ingredients are all in the name. For this recipe, Link will need to find Big Hearty Truffles, or just regular Hearty Truffles for a lesser effect, and Hylian Tomatoes.
Though the former is harder to come by,Hylian Tomatoes should be a frequently encountered ingredient from the beginning of the game. You likely even have an abundance of these lying around in your inventory, making them the perfect final ingredient to add to this dish, as opposed to something like Rock Salt or Goron Spice.

8 Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom Recipes You Still Don’t Know Exist
Meat and mushrooms can easily make up most of Link’s diet, which sadly means he’ll never get to taste the rarer recipes in Tears of the Kingdom.
Though Hylian Tomatoes themselves are not a particularly beneficial ingredient,it may be worth cooking some smaller dishes with the extra ingredients you have lying around, even if they won’t be up to the full power effect of the best dish they can produce. It’s always better to have something than nothing when you’re in a tough spot.

7Hearty Salt Grilled Mushrooms
Many dishes inThe Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdomare virtually the same recipe, just with a single ingredient change. As for Hearty Salt Grilled Mushrooms, this is a recipe that consists of 4 Hearty ingredients and one additional spice, like many of the other restorative health recipes.
Note that variations of the same recipe can be made by decreasing the number of Big Hearty Truffles or just by using normal Hearty Truffles, but the effects will be lowered. The one additional ingredient needed in this recipe is obvious by the name of the dish, Salt.

All Your Zelda: TOTK Cooking Recipes Can Improve With Two Easy Tricks
Players can cook up a variety of powerful recipes in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, but two surprisingly simple tricks can make them even better.
Specifically, Link will need to find Rock Salt, which can be found pretty easily by mining in various caves. This is great because the Truffles needed for this recipe are also found in caves, as shown inJoe Hammer Gaming’s Video above, so you may find all the ingredients needed for this recipe without having to search all over theZelda: Tears of the Kingdommap.

6Hearty Fragrant Mushroom Sauté
Full Recovery + 17 Bonus Hearts
While Fragrant Mushroom Sauté might not seem like a particularly filling dish, Hearty Mushroom Sauté made with Big Hearty Truffles is. Fortunately, unlike some ofthe best recipes inZelda: TOTK, this recipe only requires four of the Hearty ingredients, rather than all five.
Note that you may also make this recipe using Hearty Truffles instead of Big Hearty Truffles, but it will have a lesser effect on Link’s health. However, given that Hearty Truffles are much easier to find, you may find that this is more beneficial to you than hunting for the more scarce version.

10 Best Armor Sets & Items For Heat In Zelda: TOTK (& How To Get Them)
Of the many different pieces of armor in Zelda: TOTK, there are a few that benefit Link in warmer weather by giving him resistance to heat or buffs.
As for the second ingredient, Goron Spice, you’ll only need one. Luckily, this ingredient is super easy to come by onceLink has explored the Goron regionas it can be purchased straight from the general store there. While you’re there,I recommend stocking up on some as it is a great addition to other recipes as well.
5Sunny Fried Wild Greens
Recover 15 Broken Hearts
While it is important to prioritize healing the heart containers you do have and potentially providing bonus ones, another important factor when it comes to health is fixing Link’sbroken heart containers inZelda: TOTK.Heart containers can be broken anytime Link interacts with Gloom, which is plentiful around Hyrule, particularly in the Depths.
Once a heart container is broken, it cannot be healed by recovery meals.Instead, Link needs to prepare dishes specifically to restore broken hearts. If you don’t bother to fix them, you’re essentially lowering the amount of base hearts you have and thus lowering your health overall, which is not a position you want to be in.
This recipe can also be made with Sun Pumpkins, or by combining the two, but Sun Pumpkins will only be available for purchase and growing, as seen inAustin John Play’s video above, after completing The Mayoral Election in Hateno Village.
Therefore, while I wouldn’t recommend stockpiling these dishes the same way that I would recommend doing so with traditional healing recipes, having a small inventory of the best ones for this purpose is a good idea. Plus,Sundelions are incredibly easy to come by on the Sky Islands, so there’s no excuse not to have this recipe on hand, especially if you’re going to explorethe Depths ofZelda: TOTK.
4Hearty Mushroom Skewer
Full Recovery + 20 Bonus Hearts
The Mushroom Skewer recipe is probably one Link has become very familiar with, since variations of it are among the first recipes Link is likely tocook inTears of the Kingdom. However, as with all the others, throwing in some Hearty ingredients can turn a mediocre recipe into one that’s worth cooking.
In this case, combining some Hearty Truffles can transform the Mushroom Skewer recipe into one that not only fully restores Link’s health, but provides him with Bonus Hearts, too. Of course, the number of Hearty items used will change the quantity of Bonus Hearts you’ll get.
A Perfect Zelda TOTK Farming Location May Have Deeper Lore Implications
The Lord of the Mountain can leave Satori Mountain in TOTK, but its expanded role has significant implications for the rumored tribute.
So, while the best outcome is going to come from combining 5 Big Hearty Truffles, keep in mind that sometimes having a couple of full recovery dishes with maybe 5+ bonus hearts can occasionally be more beneficial than one recipe with full recovery and 20 bonus hearts.
3Hearty Salmon
Another great recipe for restoring Link’s health fully and providing him with 20 bonus hearts is made using Hearty Salmon. Unfortunately, like all Hearty items, Hearty Salmon is not the easiest to come by, so you will need to do a bit of farming to get them, but they’re worth it.
I’ve personally found the best place to look and farm Hearty Salmon is Tama Pond, which can be found east of Rito Village. You can also try checking the Flight Range as well as the docks under Hyrule castle, or if you’re feeling more adventurous, bears often drop Hearty Salmon as well.
Unlike inThe Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, where Link needed a significant number of base hearts to pull the Master Sword,Zelda: TOTKonlyrequires a high amount of stamina. This means it’s better to max out your stamina early on and allow bonus hearts via recipes to make up for the lack of base hearts.
Killing them can be a bit risky and not worth the potential loss of hearts when you’re already trying to acquire ingredients to replenish your hearts, but if you’re working with somestrongZelda: TOTKweapons, then it should be no problem.
2Hearty Steamed Mushrooms
Full Recovery + 22 Bonus Hearts
Hearty Steamed Mushrooms is a variation of Steamed Mushrooms that provides a greater amount of recovery and additional bonus hearts. While recovery alone may seem like enough and many players aren’t keen to waste Hearty ingredients all in one dish, given how hard they are to come by, this can be essential for new players.
If you haven’t taken the time tomax out Link’s heartsusing the Goddess Statues because you value stamina more, you may have a harder time facing more difficult enemies. For this reason, recipes that can provide a little extra bonus will help to make up for that fact until you have time to even things out.
Note thatthe best place to look for Big Hearty Truffles is the Satori Mountain Foothill Cave, slightly north of the Gerudo Highlands. Typically, Link should be able to farm around three or four of them there if you search thoroughly.
1Hearty Fried Wild Greens
Full Recovery + 25 Bonus Hearts
It’s no secret that Hearty Radishes are one of the best ingredients you can come by inThe Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Unfortunately, these items are pretty scarce, so using five of them all in a single recipe can feel a bit like a waste and, in a way, it might be.
Though this is the best recipe you can make for health recovery and bonus hearts, it may not be worth it to waste five of these elusive ingredients in a single dish – especially when they can be spread out with other ingredients and make full restores that just simply have fewer bonus hearts.
If youcomplete some tasks around Hateno Villageby speaking with Uma, Link can eventually earn the ability to have Hearty Radishes grown so that he can keep a steady supply of them. This can help make this recipe a little more viable.
However, it is recommended to have one or two of these meals on hand, despite how wasteful they feel, as they could prove to be life-saving during a difficult boss fight inThe Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
