TheMCUintroduced a new rule in its latest Disney+ series,Agatha All Along, that makes the Scarlet Witch more intimidating despite her death two years ago. One of the biggest questions fromDoctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madnesswas about whether Wanda Maximoff, a.k.a.the Scarlet Witch, actually died. She was crushed in the collapse of Mount Wundagore, but a burst of red energy led people to believe she may still be alive. However, Marvel essentially confirmed her death inAgatha All Alongthrough Rio Vidal hinting that the witch is gone.
With Wanda’s death, Agatha could finally crawl out of the spell the Scarlet Witch put her under and walk the Witches' Road to regain her powers. The first two episodes of theWandavisionspinoff further establish the world of witches in the MCU and its extensive lore. It introduces new rules that witches follow, in addition to Agatha’s coven andthe Salem Seven. One rule that Agatha explains in the second episode makes the Scarlet Witch more powerful, even after her death.

Agatha All Along Establishes Witches Exist Very Close To Each Other
Agatha All Alonghas several conveniences that Agatha uses to quickly find her coven so she canembark down the Witches' Road. The witches she finds are all very close to Westview, but there is an explanation. While she and Joe Locke’s mysterious character are searching for witches,Agatha explains the Covenstead Rule, which states, “Wherever you are, a coven there shall be.“This phrase means that within any three-mile radius, there will be a “collection of witchy-enough people to form a coven.”
The MCU’s Changes To Agatha Harkness' Comics Origin & Character Explained
Kathryn Hahn’s Agatha Harkness is visibly different from her comic counterpart, as the MCU made a significant changes to her origin and backstory.
This rule does create many plot holes, because if someone is in a less-populated area, it could be less likely that they’d find many witches near them. However, since Westview is set in New Jersey, a densely populated state, it’s possible that Agatha could find plenty of witches near her. Still, it does feel like a made-up rule to explain how Agatha can find her coven and the show can move the plot.

How Marvel’s New Rule Makes Scarlet Witch Even More Powerful
Agatha All Alongshowed that many witches live near Westview and there could be even more than the ones who Agatha recruits for her coven. This meansmany witches were in the area when Agatha and Wanda foughtinWandavision’s finale. They would have been able to detect any magical activity happening near them, and they could have investigated the situation or intervened, especially the ones who were searching for Agatha.
However, the Scarlet Witch is possibly more powerful than any other witch, and the other witches could have stayed away out of fear of fighting her.Wanda is even more intimidating, knowing that the other witches may have stayed away due to how powerful she is. WhileAgatha All Alongis all about Wanda’s antagonist, it makes the Scarlet Witch more terrifying with the presence she still has over Agatha and Westview.
